  6. lovetox

Ravix: probably you have the PGP plugin installed

  7. black

    > black: see https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/9315 for sticker support Ah thx. God 7 years and no progress so far 🫠

  8. The Wild

Well the issue is right there, up for grabs 😁

  9. Codimp

seems the weblate is not synchronised again :/

  10. cal0pteryx

Codimp: yes, it's a known issue

  11. cal0pteryx

    Should be resolved soon

I say, is it somehow still posssible to not use TLS at all, when logging into an account. I've set up a local server, running on localhost, and all I get is "TLS Handshake failed".

  13. egnun

Ok, with Profanity I can disable TLS and it seems to somewhat work. The server at least accepts the connection, but the login still fails.

  14. lovetox

in the account settings there is a option to enable unencrypted connection

  15. lovetox

though unclear why you need this, i think most servers have command line tools to create certificates

lovetox, thanks, it was a serverside issue. Of course, I had to disable TLS there. Well, for testing and development purposes. I currently don't need any certificates. So why go through the hassle of creating them?

  19. lovetox

because most applications dont support no-tls anymore, because nobody wants it, and software is not developed for people that quickly want to test something

  20. lovetox

i bet you invested more time into finding options in the clients and finding out why your server does not accept unencrypted connection, then it would have took you to issue the command to create a cert

Are there any plans for calling functionality?

  23. cal0pteryx

    No

  24. black

That's sad. Is there a reason for that?

  25. moparisthebest

    egnun: https://github.com/FiloSottile/mkcert is your friend

I wonder, if video messages (similar to the existing audio messages) would be less work than A/V calls. Sure, not the same thing, but useful for some.

  28. egnun

lovetox: I agree with you, even though I do welcome, that from the user side. Forced encryption is one of the downsides of modern software development. Especially, if you are like me not really a developer and/or rather new to a project. Also, I don't want to "quickly" do something. I want to to learn and understand _why_ something is happening. And just copy-pasting some command, wouldn't have given me the joy of finding out. Even if it just, as it was in this case, again the confirmation, that I'm a bit thick. πŸ˜ƒ (But to be fair, I was looking at some docs, that were already a few years old, so I assumed some things, anyways…) Now the real adventure can start. πŸ˜‰

moparisthebest: Thanks for the link. Looks interesting. I'll definitely bookmark it for later.

    > Are there any plans for calling functionality? The main use case for video call as someone who travels a lot is to have the ability to see a family member (dad, for instance). Very few Jabber clients can do this (especially on Windows.) Since Gajim is a fully-featured desktop client, it's disappointing to read there are no plans to support calling in Gajim. Too bad it's dependent on upstream libraries though. 😞
