Gajim - 2025-10-04

Hello support chat. So I am dumb and accidentally deleted my android device's omemo fingerprint, and now can't message my phone for testing. Does anyone know how to add a fingerprint manually?

Did you try turning OMEMO off and on again and sending messages in between?

Yes, it goes back to "This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted" receiving in Gajim and "No devices found. Query in progress" when sending from Gajim.

Send/receive fine without omemo

"Query" never seems to reslove to anything.

Ok well [Solved] I guess, I deleted and reinstalled the conversations app on my phone so I need to reverify but it works now at least

Hi, I just tried to install Gajim 2.3.6 on an older laptop with a Core i3 processor, first on Windows 10, then on Windows 11, but it didn't work in either case. All I saw were white screens... Any idea how to get around this? Gajim 1.3.3 was previously installed.

yes, its not supported anymore by GTK4

all you can do is further use the older gajim version

gajim seems to have major issues with connectivity, possibly due to lack of NetworkManager

messages just get randomly lost

(on unstable networks)

ugh this is going to need patching BSD side

a network manager just tells gajim if the connection is gone

its a convinence feature, i dont see how this can result in lost messages, except you mean your own messages that dont arrive
