> and 432M is kinda a lot, i'm not sure if this really is a memory leak because it should be bigger, but its probably a race condition somewhere vlad: to be fair xmpp is dying anyways, because trolls/narcissists (see Mopar's self-masturbating nick) have ruined it due to their toxicity and inability to deal with a critique (healthy happy problem/solution, unlike criticism with unhealthy problem/no-solution), they even try to affect the design of servers/clients to masturbate own ego and erase anybody they disagree with, it's peak stupid ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

trilobit
what's more xmpp's society is run by them, so nobody can moderate them in the system, there is literally none highier in it, meaning they continue to abuse for ego and run it into the grave
-
defaukt
Look, Gajim even added this https://xmppbl.org/reports to allow trolls or anybody random to autodelete anybody from a server by false reporting

Hi, I can't update gajim-nightly on Debian Testing. ``` sudo apt install gajim-nightly Solving dependencies... Error! Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: Unsatisfied dependencies: gajim-nightly : Depends: python3-gi (>= 3.52.0) but 3.50.0-4+b1 is to be installed Error: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. Error: The following information from --solver 3.0 may provide additional context: Unable to satisfy dependencies. Reached two conflicting decisions: 1. gajim-nightly:amd64=20250822-1 is selected as an upgrade 2. gajim-nightly:amd64=20250822-1 Depends python3-gi (>= 3.52.0) but none of the choices are installable: [no choices] ```

concerto: i have read above that recent gajim depends on packages which are not even in debian unstable, i.e. it is not possible to upgrade. maybe somebody will tell you more.
-
concerto
IIRC the Gajim nightly repository used to provide additional packages needed to install it...
-
cal0pteryx
concerto: yes, but this is a version mismatch with a library on your system. Flatpak would be an alternative
-
Isadora
On Gajim 2.3.4 flatpak version, when I try to set an image for workspace the app stops responding and crashes. Any clue? Running on Debian Bookworm
-
lovetox
Did you try with different images?
-
isafashiondev
yes, different formats (png and jpg) the images are ~ 5KB

Isadora: via drag and drop maybe?

It's known to crash when trying to drop files on an X11 desktop.

(crashes are prevented in the next version)

I noticed something strange, some friends, I can correct messages, others I cannot ? What is the difference ? I'm running gajim 1.9.5

We only support currently correcting the last message and only if it was sent by Gajim and only within I think 5 mijutes

Is the timer a server policy thing ? Can I change it ? (it's my very small server)
-
lissine
> and only if it was sent by Gajim What’s the rationale behind this restriction?
-
lissine
shodan: it’s a client policy
-
lovetox
lissine: some restriction is good i don't see a good reason to edit very old messages.
-
lissine
I mean why restrict to messages sent from this Gajim?
-
lovetox
But of course 5 minutes is debateable
-
lovetox
That's not a restriction, just forgotten when implemented
