lovetox: I've briefly tested the anti Screenshot code, it works. One just needs to get the handle of the main window on startup and likely also the handles of all dialog windows, when they are created and call setdisplayaffinity

Gajim (2.3.3 Windows) becomes very sluggish when switching between chats on my computer. What could cause this?

Do you use a laptop?
-
necromancer
Yes, with an intel i7-10875H. Memory occupation is about 340MB. CPU usage is about 5% when switching.

with my laptop performance goes down if the battery is low, then system often goes into energy saving mode

check if its better if you are on the power cable

I'm always on the power cable and do not turn on any energy saving setting :(

how big is the lag? can you estimate?
-
necromancer
I have several mucs, but only one 1:1 chat (defualt xmpp.earth). Switching to that 1:1 chat doesn't seem sluggish, but switching to mucs does. In better scenarios, the software may freeze for about 1-3 seconds; in worse cases, it's a bit more complicated: the software may stop responding for roughly seven seconds. During these few seconds, the software first freezes for about five seconds, and then, for the next two seconds or so, the entire interface stretches downward, covering the taskbar below—as if the software window were being violently stretched vertically—before finally returning to normal.

Maybe it's because too many messages in mucs?

necromancer: I know some people using Windows 11 24H2 have stutters in general (even with a high-spec computer.)

Hello everyone, I would like to ask; is there a guide how I can use gajim together with conversations with omemo? I see "messages were not encrypted for this device " or "This message was encrypted with omemo, but not for your device"
-
Altug
I guess I should able to import/export my "omemo private key" from device to device, but never seen such an option. I am new to xmpp in general, so sorry if the question is trivial!
-
mesonium
Hi Altug, Conversations defaults to having OMEMO encryption enabled by default, while Gajim does not, so make sure, that the lock in the lower right corner uses the right option. There's also setting for in the preferences window for it. In order to have messages automatically encrypted for a device, a OMEMO key needs to exchanged once, which happens by sending an encrypted message with your device to the other party and vice versa. You should only have a single unique omemo key per device, i.e. you don't need to export any keys, unless you change your device once and for all.

also are you seeing these messages with a real contact, or are you trying to test stuff by sending messages to yourself?
-
Altug
Ok, thank you very much! I think I managed to do it. Now I receive and able to see messages from all my devices.
