How do I fetch MUC histories on demand? Tuning up sync threshold has no effect on 2.3.3 Gajim, but in the same group I can keep fetching messages from Cheogram (Android client).

  3. XRevan86 accidentally clicked on a MUC with a lot of unread messages in Gajim 2.x.

  4. XRevan86

Now I have to read those messages *now*, and find the place I last read manually, since that made Conversations forget the scrollback, too.

  5. XRevan86

Also in Gajim 1.9 scrollback could've been imitated by stashing away a copy of a message and using search. But search is also broken now.

  6. XRevan86

If one searches a message in Gajim 2.x, Gajim will continually scroll down to the last message, marking everything as read, and also making searching old messages impossible, since now it has to load *everything* from then to now.

  7. resoli

Hello. Is there a way to leave a MUC, more directly than searching it and using the 'forget this chat' from contextual menu?

  8. resoli

  9. lovetox

    Yes and?

  15. resoli

    So, `provenick`seems known to account

  16. lovetox

Yes why would we not remember

  17. resoli

So I guessed test was still in the participant list

  18. lovetox

The start chat Dialog is a list of known chats, not a list of joined chats

  19. resoli

Which is not, as you said

  20. resoli

When i click `forget this chat` in the contextual menu, the appearance change

  21. lovetox

Yes a me people don't want old chats in that list anymore, that's why we added a forget option

  22. lovetox

Yes some people don't want old chats in that list anymore, that's why we added a forget option

  23. resoli

    Yes, I misunderstood that

  27. Patrick

on Windows, how does one completely uninstall Gajim? Need this so i can do a clean re-install

  28. Patrick

the problem computer was installed using the setup, then uninstalled. then the windows store version of 2.3.3 was installed.

  29. Patrick

we are seeing a black box around the window and the taskbar doesn't flash for new messages so i want to uninstall it completely and try again

  30. mesonium

Patrick, had you checked the link to enable window flashing in Window's settings?

  31. Patrick

    > Patrick, had you checked the link to enable window flashing in Window's settings? yes. it is enabled

  33. Patrick

gajim on her pc has a weird black box around the window. something is wrong and i think we'd like to uninstall it completely and start over

  37. mesonium

  38. mesonium

  39. cal0pteryx

it is, but it only makes the black border smaller, it does not hide it

  40. cal0pteryx

mesonium, thanks for pointing to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/105 this explains for example why clicking window shadows are not activate windows in the background. the shadow is part of the gtk window, thus preventing windows from actually receiving it

  43. mesonium

sounds reasonable :) you are welcome

    see also the comment https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/8559#note_2439181

  45. mesonium

    > So stuff like shadows is more about integration into the windowing system, but even there it's not a great idea if some backends do other stuff because themes are written for GTK as a platform and not for gtk-on-$backend. So if we wanted to make shadows drawn by the OS, we should do that for every OS if at all possible. :D what a mess

  46. cal0pteryx

    Indeed

  47. lovetox

Patrick: the border is a known bug

  48. lovetox

    A reinstall will not help

  49. lovetox

But it should be small and don't actually hinder you to use the application

Just fixed the inconsistency in Spanish translations for "ban". In summary, the decision was to keep "_expulsar_" for kick and to use "_vetar_" for ban. I left a compilation of what was being briefly discussed in here and other chats, for reference. For further reading: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12401

Recently, I have done a big search about Gajim. It supports a lot of very old XEP-XXXX versions. So I have started to publish and give solutions to compare current supported version to latest, it will permit to do easy update :) It is based on XEP-0453: DOAP usage in XMPP: https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0453.html // "Show Supported XEPs" on https://xmpp.org/software/gajim/ - https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/blob/master/data/gajim.doap XEP-0398: User Avatar to vCard-Based Avatars Conversion update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12402 XEP-0153: vCard-Based Avatars update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12403 XEP-0084: User Avatar update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12404 XEP-0054: vcard-temp update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12405 XEP-0292: vCard4 Over XMPP update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12406 XEP-0045: Multi-User Chat update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12407 XEP-0060: Publish-Subscribe update: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12408
