  1. zhangede

Gajim 2.3.1 is also for Windows? Or windows still stuck on Gajim 1.9.5?

  2. jjj333_p (any pronouns)

    > Gajim 2.3.1 is also for Windows? Or windows still stuck on Gajim 1.9.5? i think they finally released to windows

  3. zhangede

    @lovetox

  4. hannibal

    2.3.1 is also for windows.

  5. hannibal

If you want to notify someone, just write the name, i.e. without a leading @

  6. zhangede

hannibal that means they have solved the problems for Windows?

  7. zhangede

hannibal that means they have solved the problems for Windows? I try without a @

  8. hannibal

    Yes

  9. cal0pteryx

  10. zhangede

    > zhangede: all relevant info can be found here https://gajim.org/posts/2025-06-29-gajim-2.3.0-released/ Windows Releases Windows releases were stuck on Gajim 1.9.5 for a while due to issues with a library Gajim depends on. All these issues have been fixed now, enabling us to provide the most recent versions of Gajim for Windows again

  11. zhangede

the message still there, that is why i ask.

    🤣 1
  12. zhangede

if you delete this message I will be very thankful.

  13. Hund

How do I disable the GNOME window decorations?

  14. Hund

It looks terrible in a none-GNOME enviroment.

  15. Hund

    environment*

  16. Hund

And of course, the widgets. I would like to use my system theme like any other sane application.

  17. MSavoritias (fae, ve)

Hey, I see that Gajim has a design change in the recent releases (one of them being 2.3.0). I found this PR https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/merge_requests/1149 But it doesn't have any description on how that design process actually happened. Was it by looking at the Gnome Design Guidelines or was there something else also involved? I am designing things myself and I heard good words about Gajims redesign so I want to at least try to follow on the same footsteps 😊

  18. cal0pteryx

    > the message still there, that is why i ask. zhangede: Which message? I'm confused.

  19. cal0pteryx

Hund: search for CSD in the context of gnome. Those are window decorations. Maybe you find something which suits your needs

  20. zhangede

    > > the message still there, that is why i ask. > zhangede: Which message? I'm confused. click your link: https://gajim.org/posts/2025-06-29-gajim-2.3.0-released/ and go down to the page

  22. cal0pteryx

The message is unclear? It says we _had_ issues which are _resolved now_

  23. cal0pteryx

MSavoritias (fae, ve): that's nice to hear! Mainly looking at Adw docs (they have pages on styling, widgets, and layout). See https://gnome.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/libadwaita/doc/1.0/adaptive-layouts.html and https://gnome.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/libadwaita/doc/1.0/boxed-lists.html for example

  24. cal0pteryx

    Also this, yes https://developer.gnome.org/hig/

  25. zhangede

    > The message is unclear? It says we _had_ issues which are _resolved now_ We waited for already 6 Months. I just can not believe it. It is clear now to me.

  26. cal0pteryx

zhangede: yes, the wait is over. Finally, we have Windows releases back

  27. MSavoritias (fae, ve)

cal0pteryx, will take a look. thank you 🙂

  28. resoli

    Hello, congratulations for v2.3.1 !

  29. resoli

I would like to correct a translation to italian

  31. resoli

_Meschino_is something like Petty in english (Mesquin in french)

  32. resoli

I suppose it should be a translation of _Me_ ('Io' in italian)

  33. resoli

I saw the page about translations: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/wikis/development/DevTranslate

  34. lovetox

    Translate.gajim.org

  35. lovetox

Register there than you can contribute the change

  36. resoli

But currently https://translate.gajim.org redirects me to an authentication page: https://auth.leboulanger.org

  37. Hund

cal0pteryx: > Hund: search for CSD in the context of gnome. Those are window decorations. Maybe you find something which suits your needs What do you mean? I'm pretty sure that you can't disable that crap, but I just wanted to ask and make sure that I'm not wrong.

  38. resoli

And the registration page links to http://auth.example.com/register

  43. lovetox

This is a new problem with the domain, will check later

  44. resoli

    Thanks lovetox

  45. cal0pteryx

Hund: then you're out of options I guess. If you expect help, please refrain from using profanity

  46. cal0pteryx

"I don't like this" and "It is crap" makes a huge difference ;)

  47. Hund

cal0pteryx: I'm just being honest. While it's their decision, it's a bad decision to exclude most of the users.

  48. cal0pteryx

Hund: it's your opinion, not a fact. Overall feedback is quite positive so far.

  49. Hund

cal0pteryx: I bet, if you're a GNOME user or if you don't care about native software. :D

  50. Hund

It's obviously Gajims choice and while I respect it, I still think it's a terribly poor move that makes no sense at all. I now have to look for options as Gajim is no longer useable. :(

  51. Hund

The menu bar is missing now as well. How am I suppose to exit this gnome app?

  52. mesonium

Preferences, choose to terminate on closing via the titlebar's X button, right click the tray icon or the titlebar and exit there or Alt+F4.

  53. cal0pteryx

Gajim asks what you want to do when clicking the close button.

  54. mesonium

I'm on Plasma and value consistency and theming a lot too, but in the end functionality is what matters for me. However, tbh, I find it quiet pretty, even if it looks a bit alien on my system. (There's libadapta by the Mint team, advertised as a drop in replacement for libadwaita, which supports theming, but someone would need to invest resources into such a fork if they can't live otherwise with the status quo. I would not suggest doing that.) Btw you could switch to linux mint, they apparently now ship a patched version of libadwaita :D https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions/989#discussioncomment-13609853

  55. mesonium

Hund, last but not least, Kaidan got an NLgrant for implementing muc, legacy omemo and such to become compatible with the rest of the ecosystem. Might be worth for you to look into.

  56. Wyatt

Anyone having issues adding account on flatpak?

  57. tzenfore

Is there a way I can force the app to use server-side decorations instead of libadwaita's client-side decorations?

  58. tzenfore

I rather liked how it looked before since it just used my KDE decorations

  59. lovetox

    No

  60. tzenfore

    :(

  61. Codimp

Hi here, just helped someone with Gajim and it seems confusing that the "Show Notifications" (under "Notifications" tab in account management) is a menu, because unless you click on it it's not visualy evident this is a menu with multiple parameters inside

  62. Codimp

can we make it evident or even better: move all notifications parameters outside of this menu, directly under the "Visual Notifications" area?

  63. lovetox

for that particular option yes the sub dialog seems not necessary
