he also can't receive the message he sent with his phone, from his gajim client while I can receive his messages on my phone (also android/conversation)

we tried clearing all the omemo devices we tried turning off encryption altogether and turning it back on this problem has been ongoing for over a week it started since his old phone broken and he installed conversation on his new phone

we are totally exasperated :(

As far as the OMEMO problem, we just solved it he erased conversation from his phone and reinstalled it, now that works

as for the lightning icons, I still don't know

You should try to enable it in the room config and if this is not possible switch to another groupchat server

Start fixing this and then see if the omemo problems continue

[Debian 11.11, Xfce4.16] hi folks, I have been using Gajim 1.3.1 for a long time but now I cannot connect to the multi user chat debianforum.de@chat.debianforum.de any more. I have two accounts: bullgard4@conversations.im and jabber.ccc.de. — debianforum.de tells me I should enter "roomname=debianforum.de" and "server=chat.debianforum.de". I am sorry but I cannot find the input fields "room name" and "server". I believe that these are outdated names. I can only find 4 menu items: Gajim, Accounts, View and Help. The user list offers a a headline jabber.ccc.de and in it a group "group chats" but it does not list debianforum.de@chat,debianforum.de.

bullgard4, hard to say 1.3.1 is very old, you would need to send us a screenshot from the GUI

but usually there is some menu entry that says start chat / join chat

there you can type in your chat

you can also tell us what the error is you receive why you cant join the chats

lovetox, I have got another Debian laptop computer running Debian 12.7, Xfce 4.18 and Gajim 1.3.7. When clicking Gajim > Create group chat , a window appears where I have to enter "Name" and "Description".

Thiis Gajim answers: "You (bullgard4@jabber.ccc.de) have joined the group chat. Subject: Change by unkonown (thursday 19 June 2025 at 17:25:31 CET). info: One setting has been changed which does not your privacy. This group chat is not anonymous. A new group chat has been created." But What I can see is that another chatroom of name irihel@conference.jabber.ccc.de has been created. This is not what I wanted I wanted to join an existing group chat of name debianforum.de@chat.debianforum.de.
