Hey! Anyone having issues with Gajim on windows recently? I havent been able to detect why but my client is failing to display recent messages or clearing chats entirely. I did try to remove portable and sign-in on the latest install release for windows but I had no luck with progress.

I do use OMEMO in-case that's useful to you.

How do you clear a chat?

Gajim client keep crashing up... Please how do I fix this.. I have uninstall several times and still won't open

rayn12, which OS? which Gajim version? did you send a sentry crash report? ✏

I'm on windows.. so it was 1.9

I was using it before .. just right now about few hours ago, I restarted my pc and boom Crashed...

I heard the next release will be available on the Windows store again, i.e. something > 2.2.0, and hope that it's fixed there. In the meanwhile, you could run `Gajim-Debug.exe` in a terminal and check the output for errors. ✏

I have uninstalled the 1.9 version and install a portable version which seems to be working.. But is there a different with the portable version and the 1.9 version ??

The portable doesn't create a start menu / autostart entry, doesn't use the registry and doesn't have this "bring to front part": https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/blob/master/win/misc/gajim.nsi compare to https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/blob/master/win/misc/gajim-portable.nsi I'm no Windows expert, why do we need this check > Check if already running If so don't open another but bring to front for the non-portable version only? ✏

Well, I really don;t know all off this.. but I have it working for me just with the portable version until this whole bug is fixed

its annoying on the 1.9 .. i can't even click on a message without error showing up

The app ask to send the error so I did.. and have uninstalled it to avoid it.. because I have unable to text or chat like I am doing now.. SO I am using the portable which works for now..I don't want to go through the process of all the errors again..

I lost my chat histories which one the first and I took it as normal glitch.... then Yesterday I left the client on without quitting which I normally do without no issues or errors, only to turn on the pc and get on the Gajim .. then I was hit with an error immediately and I uninstalled thinking it was my machine .. still same issues so I downloaded the portable which I am currently using.. and I don;t want to uninstall this and happen to lost my chat and face more errors...So I am good with this for now...

I git cloned the dev version and started it (I used launch.py and not launch.sh as stated in the documentation on Gitlab, prerhaps a mistake I could fix ?). When I run launch.py, Gajim starts and they are my conversations and everything. It is "mixed" with my real Gajim that I use daily. Is that normal? 😊

Is that normal? 😊 yep, to run it with a separated files for dev you can run it like this : ./launch.py -c ./dev-instance -p dev where "./dev-instance" is a config directory you create (like "~/.config/gajim" in classic use) ↺

Codimp, do you mean where gajim handles cmdline arguments? common/application.py

if you want to list all args, you can simply type gajim --help

i always wanted to fuse these commands somehow, that you dont need 2

but i dont think this is possible as sometimes you just want to change your config dir, and not the app id

we could provide a --dev switch as alias for some commands

yeah actually i want to get rid of profiles

users that want their data separated should just define a different config location with -c

to join a chat or add a contact your server needs to contact the server of the user or chat, and this message says that it is not able to resolve the remote domain
