Hello, I'm really confused, I'm looking for my contact list but I can't find where it is in the interface. I'm on Linux, with version 2.1.1 of Gajim. I see "add a contact", but where are my previously saved contacts?

  3. isemptyornull

Click on your profile picture, bottom left

  4. isemptyornull

    @Zatalyz

  5. Zatalyz

The picture on bottom left open a menu when I can select my account (I have 2 account) ; and if I clic on one, I had a new windows with only my profile...

Zatalyz: you find your contacts by Ctrl+N or Start Chat. Once you have opened a chat, you can put them into a workspace for grouping and pin and arrange them within a workspace

Ha, really strange. But ok. People and channel are mixed, no filter to only see "friends" ? And we can't reorganize people by group in this list, only if we click in one, open a chat, then modify the parameters of the contact ?

  11. mesonium

If you have grouped them in your roster, and you have a friends list, you should be able to filter by that in the Start Chat dialog

  12. mesonium

If you require to manage your roster groups, go to Accounts -> $account -> Advanced -> Manage Contact List

  13. Zatalyz

ha this last is the thing I want, thanks

  14. Zatalyz

I'm nostalgic for the interface from a few years ago, I think... far fewer clicks to do simple things ^^

    > Ha, really strange. But ok. People and channel are mixed, no filter to only see "friends" ? And we can't reorganize people by group in this list, only if we click in one, open a chat, then modify the parameters of the contact ? there is a filter button right on top of the list. you can group contacts and group chats in workspaces on the left side, even with drag and drop

  16. hyol

How do I mute people in a muc?

  17. cal0pteryx

with Gajim 2.2: right click -> block

  18. kimapr

in the context of IM muting someone usually means the moderator action to make them unable to speak, it seems you can do that by right clicking their profile picture then Revoke Voice

  19. hyol

So you can't do it as a non-moderator?

  20. kimapr

do you want to stop seeing their messages or to make them unable to send messages at all in the chat?

  21. kimapr

cal0pteryx's suggestion to Block should do the former (no moderator priv needed), mine the latter (yes moderator priv needed)

  22. cal0pteryx

hyol, kimapr, Gajim 2.2 added a "mute/block" feature usable locally by anyone. additionally, there has been the "block user for everyone in this group chat" for a long time now

  23. cal0pteryx

    see https://gajim.org/post/2025-05-15-gajim-2.2.0-released/

  24. cal0pteryx

revoking voice is _yet another_ thing, but for moderators only

  25. hyol

    > do you want to stop seeing their messages or to make them unable to send messages at all in the chat? the former

  26. cal0pteryx

hyol, right click any participant -> block

  27. hyol

`sudo zypper dup`ing rn to upgrade to 2.2

  28. hyol

It's the latest version in the repos

  29. hyol

    damn

  30. kimapr

2.2 is the latest release in general

  31. hyol

    I'm on 2.1.1

  32. hyol

OpenSUSE doesn't have a newer version
