I am a successful user of Debian, Xfce4.18, and Gajim on a laptop computer. Now I'd like to become the same on another similar laptop computer. On the new laptop computer I'd like to sign up myself to Gajim. I opened Gajim's "Add account" window. It prints "Welcome" and "Please enter your access data or register yourself." There are two empty lines to be filled in. What have I to enter in the first epty line? I know what Password I have to enter in the seco,d empty line.

snugglybun, I can only give you a partial answer: Gajim requires that a user needs to use his password. This helps much against spam.

the password protects the account against being used by people other than its owner, that's not antispam

bullgard4, you said you successfully used gajim on a laptop before. Does that laptop still work and do you still have it? You could open Gajim and look at your accounts list to find the addresses to put in the box.

Try putting that in the first box and your password in the second.
