Start chat shows the groups and accounts. So I don't understand what the problem is

You can filter by account or group

A contact list is there to find a contact to start a chat with, or to see who is online on an account or particular group, and then start a chat. Are you saying you have a hard time finding the contact you want to chat with?

i have a lot of contacts with several different accs, so this approach is very very inconvinient now

No you use this approach only if you don't know the name of a contact that you write rarely, your most used contacts should be in your chat list, probably pinned to the top.

You can also use workspaces to organize your chats per account for example

Workspaces and pinning are in my opinion a much better way to organize than just putting single chats in roster groups.

It allows you to set the order of pinned contacts, allows you to group groupchats together with single chats, allows you to group chats of different Accounts together, allows you to assign custom Avatars to these groups

Workspaces are our main feature for organizing chats (not only contacts)

If you feel something is missing there I am happy to improve it

wladmis, just as a side-remark about workspace syncing across gajim instances (or other clients?), there's an issue for that: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/11847

mesonium, ah, i see! honestly, i don't know. i wanted to separate my contact list by accounts and by groups. i'll see can i work with this new workspace concept (which is new to me), but if it is not hard to maintain old roster i'd be nice to have it. thank you!

Having a strange behavior on Windows 1.9.5 where Gajim seems to be loading the same message twice and displaying them one after the other. It looks like there's a persistent echo in my chat windows. Is this an issue that's already been addressed in the new versions Windows doesn't have yet?

In what chats does this happen?

Today it is happening in xmpp:conversations@conference.siacs.eu ; however, it is not happening in the Conversations app on my phone. Just in Gajim. This makes me think maybe something Gajim-specific is happening.

Were those corrected messages?

They look exactly the same to me.

And it's a long chain of back and forth messages between people where each message is duplicated, so i doubt they decided to edit every single message afterwards.

Try to get logs the next time it happens

Hello from Gajim 2.2.0, just landed on Archlinux repo ^^

Should I get logs now? I haven't turned off my computer since then, so if the log file is still there i could grab it
