I mean some system notifications from forums administration. I'd try to registered but verification message doesn't appears in my messages

Been using gajim on PC for a while.. except for today, every time I click open the gajim app, it doesn't open. What does this mean?

It just loads a bit and doesn't open

Mapato Juma, maybe Gajim was updated by your system? Which operating system are you using?

If on Windows, you can start Gajim with gajim-debug.exe (same folder as gajim.exe) and check for errors

thanks, i can't seem to connect to my server using gajim --- cheogram connects fine

i'll try to up the verbosity and see where it actually connects

if you do gajim -v it will show you quickly whats the problem

does it support self-signed certificate?

i can see it connects to the right port

Check server logs maybe there is more info

i can connect with: openssl s_client -connect example.com:8222 -starttls xmpp

fixed it, i had SRV record for both xmpp-client and xmpps-client. turns out i didn't have prosody listening on the xmpps-client port, only on the xmpp-client port with starttls xD

normally Gajim tries multiple connection methods, but only if it cant connect

in this case from the log file, it connected successfully, then waited for the server to send xmpp stream, but it never came, and then the server terminated the connection probably because of some idle timer

Anyone have any luck with getting gajim + omemo to work properly over tor? issue is primarily with there being no devices to trust for the muc channels, wondering if anyone else has gone through this before

to clarify, i can connect/send messages with omemo on gajim using torsocks for non-tor servers, can connect to a server, but it seems that device ids are not shared to verify on a server running through tor

tor has no influence on omemo

for omemo to work, its best if contacts are in your contact list and you share status with them

you can also get logs and share them, then we can check whats up

Given that I can connect to any server that isn't using tor on the backend

it's a bit weird because there is only one person on the server currently (my admin account), so when sending a message through gajim I get the message to manage what devices I trust, but no devices are listed on gajim. profanity correctly uses omemo with the devices I've trusted

looking through the logs on gajim, nothing's marked as a warning or error aside from gtk display issues

I might chalk this up to just a misconfigure on prosody, keep trying
