I see v2 has voice disabled as per announcement. Wondering if one can enable it somehow?

  6. Kris

It wouldn't be compatible with any other clients right now anyways.

  7. cal0pteryx

If you are referring to audio calls, yes, that's disabled permanently. Voice messages should work though (the ones you send)

  8. divan

yeah, audio calls. OK, that's fine.

  9. roughnecks

any news about Windows release? or are you even more stuck since the gitlab issue?

  10. cal0pteryx

    Same stuck-ness as before

I installed gajim via flatpak on devuan linux, because it's the only way I can seem to get the latest version. But the icons don't render and the interface doesn't look ideal. Anyone know why? I'll next try install it via guix. It seems the deb repo refers to daily packages but they seem very outdated.

  12. hannibal

divan: if you have a custom theme, you might have to install it also for flatpak

hannibal: You right. Further, I think if I install it as my user (not root), it may solve the issue.

Just checking the 1.8.4v audio calls are not expected to work with current conversations app?

    Correct

  28. Kris

what does the "Activity feed" do?

  29. cal0pteryx

Kris, for now, it does what the Notification list on the account page did. It's planned to extend functionality though: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/11677

  30. Kris

    I see. sounds good!

  31. Codimp

    Hey, congrats for 2.1.0!

  32. Codimp

Do you know if the weblate is still connected to Gitlab? I don't see any new translations to do

  33. lissine

  34. Codimp

    ah yep, my bad

  35. lissine

I noticed that the timestamps are currently being displayed in a wierd manner They're kind of cropped at the top

  37. lissine

I reinstalled 2.0.0 just to check, and the issue is there as well. So this is probably some dependency that I recently updated. (probably GTK which I updated to 4.18.2)

  38. lissine

GTK Version: 4.18.2 GLib Version: 2.84.0 Pango Version: 1.56.3 PyGObject Version: 3.50.0 cairo Version: 1.18.4 pycairo Version: 1.27.0 python-nbxmpp Version: 6.1.0 libsoup Version: 3.4.2

  39. lissine

The previous GTK version I was on is 4.16.12

  40. lissine

    Same issue here

  42. lissine

Maybe the problem is the padding around timestamps is too big?

  43. lissine

~Maybe the problem is the padding around timestamps is too big?~

  44. lissine

Also noticed in the start chat window, so it's not unique to timestamps

  46. lovetox

    yeah some font rendering issue

  47. lovetox

since GTK4.0 they have all kinds of rendering issues

  48. lissine

Is it related to the GTK update?

  49. lovetox

the have now 3 or so different backends for rendering stuff

  50. lovetox

browse some gtk issues, or simply report the problem

Is there any way to hide the emoji icon next to the chat box? I don't use them. Also, in one on one chats is there a way to right/left align messages to make them easier to read? I'm guessing there is not a way to do either of these things, but wanted to check with the community. Okay, thanks

  52. rt3

Or maybe a way to do chat bubbles with a custom theme or something? That would be super cool

  53. lissine

rt3, you can theme some aspects of chat bubbles in Gajim -> Preferences -> Style -> Theme If you want more control, you can edit gajim.css

  54. rt3

Either way, great program. I was using dino before and this one is way better

  55. rt3

lissine, I don't seem to have any themes installed. Where is the css file located? Or is it created? I see you have custom colors. Could love to do this with my contacts.

  56. rt3

    *would

  57. rt3

Is there like a theme repository somewhere for downloading new themes?

  58. lissine

rt3, you can create a custom theme from the menu I mentioned above. As for gajim.css, I guess its location depends on how you installed gajim. For me it's in /usr/lib/python3.13/site-packages/gajim/data/style/gajim.css

  60. rt3

lissine, Oh, I see you just do it yourself from the add setting option?

  61. lissine

    Yes

  62. rt3

lissine, Thanks for your help. I'll get to hacking on this. :)

  63. lissine

    You're welcome :)

  64. lissine

About the font rendering issue I mentioned earlier, it only affects monospace fonts. And there's already an issue for it: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/7429

  65. rt3

lissine, Oh, my fonts seem to be working fine, so not really sure (guess I don't use monospace fonts? Not sure).

  66. lissine

the issue I mentioned affects recent GTK versions (I have it on 4.18.2 but didn't have it on 4.16)

  67. rt3

Oh I see, well I am using 2.0.4 according to my package manager. gtk4 is 4.18.4. Still, I don;t have any real issues. Although, creating a theme seems really complicated. Is there a guide online or anything on how to theme gajim?

  68. rt3

lissine, Okay thanks again (doesn't seem like options I want exist yet for 1-1 convos) gonna logoff now :)

  69. lissine

rt3: those options in the preferences are limited As mentioned earlier you'll need to edit gajim.css for more customization
