  3. r00tobo

found a good solution to the problem

  4. Link Mauve

    r00tobo, where does that happen?

  5. r00tobo

    in the wizard

  6. craftxbox

try wrapping the address with []

  7. r00tobo

    i did same behavior

  8. based

r00tobo: try aliasing it to something in /etc/hosts

  9. Link Mauve

r00tobo, sounds like a bug, which version is that?

  10. r00tobo

already found a solution, i just setup meship with a dns server and it works fine

  11. r00tobo

    1.8.4

  12. based

oh meship is a rly cool solution

  13. based

    hell yeah

  14. frmdls

when I try to chat with someone, there is an error "remote-server-not-found" does it mean the problem on my side? and how can I fix it?

  15. Rainer

frmdls: remote means it is on the other end. You cannot fix that. As you can post a message in this room, your config seems to be correct.

  16. frmdls

    > frmdls: remote means it is on the other end. You cannot fix that. As you can post a message in this room, your config seems to be correct. thank you!

  17. Rainer

Perhaps your chat partner can try another xmpp Server (get a second xmpp address).

  18. Link Mauve

lovetox, the ArchLinux maintainer made the mistake of updating nbxmpp to 6.0.0 already, with Gajim not having been released yet; when do you plan on releasing it?

  19. cal0pteryx

    Today

  20. Link Mauve

Does it make sense to revert the library, or is it a matter of hours?

  21. Link Mauve

    Ok, thanks. :)

  22. cal0pteryx

    Arch 2 fast :D

  23. Codimp

So each major version of nbxmpp is aligned with a specific version of Gajim, right?

  24. lovetox

    Yes

  25. Codimp

ok, Link Mauve did you inform the Arch maintainer about this specificity?

  26. lovetox

Link Mauve: though from the package data it's clear that current gajim does not support 6.0.0

  27. lovetox

Does that not show up on some dependency conflict checks in arch?

  28. Codimp

    > Does that not show up on some dependency conflict checks in arch? just checked and no, it's not specify on Arch side, I will open an issue

  29. Codimp

a bot just opened an issue on the Arch Gitlab saying version 6.0.0 of nbxmpp was here so I think the maintainer just upgrade it without noticing the problem

  31. lovetox

    Windows notification stuff is ridiculous

  32. lovetox

You need a doctor to make this work

  33. lovetox

But this is about the taskbar flashing

  34. lovetox

I thought we have a option for that

  35. bot

lovetox pushed 2 commits to branch gajim/master ci: Debian: Raise nbxmpp version - https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/commit/1b493e439b26d982f079771fe1038c1e6830b022 release: 2.0.0 - https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/commit/0c61acd90ba7e645fd394084e0573975b7be73cf

    flathub isn't updated yet, right?

  50. lovetox

takes usualy some hours until they publish it

    > takes usualy some hours until they publish it πŸ‘

  52. Link Mauve

lovetox, you can click on the publish button at the top of the buildbot page, after it successfully generated a flatpak.

  53. mesonium

    > Performance (...) of Gajim’s file preview has been improved (...) almost too many feathers for me after lovetox has rewritten most of the part 🍻

  54. Link Mauve

Otherwise it will automatically be published after three hours.

  55. mesonium

    > Performance (...) of Gajim’s file preview has been improved (...) almost too many feathers for me after lovetox has rewritten most of that part 🍻

  56. lovetox

    Link Mauve: ok thanks

  57. Link Mauve

(This is to let you and possibly other people test it first, and only publish it once you’re happy with it.)

  58. speedygonzales99

Looking forward to try this new version out on Windows once it gets released :) Out of curiosity, is a community member still working on implementing calls in Gajim?

  59. Kris

speedygonzales99, I think there is still some upstream blocker that prevents the otherwise working MR to be merged.

  60. lorenzo

    > Congratulations. Thanks for all your work, everyone. ❀

  61. speedygonzales99

I hope the upstream merges/fixes the problem so the working MR gets merged in Gajim 🀞🀞🀞

  62. river-drinker

    Hello everyone

  63. river-drinker

I'm not sure if someone else has this bug or talked about it

  64. river-drinker

    https://xmpp.07f.de/upload/f8d17fd740ef71730c9878829450ce7af80cfad0/bRBFh0eVR2lMYfNW0wxE2otmLdJ8JnBhT6KvJXXk/26544817-2c3c-4e47-a970-4e8512062a14.png

  65. river-drinker

But the tray icon drop down list for gajim doesn't seem to contain any items

  66. river-drinker

But the tray icon drop down list for Gajim doesn't seem to contain any items

  67. cal0pteryx

river-drinker, which gajim version and which desktop environment are you using?

  68. river-drinker

    > river-drinker, which gajim version and which desktop environment are you using? 2.0.0, I'm using Hyprland

  69. cal0pteryx

Gajim uses DBus for the icon and its menu. I'm not sure what might be missing. https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/blob/master/gajim/common/dbus/statusnotifieritem.py#L119 org.kde.StatusNotifierWatcher is the interface being used Works on Ubuntu and KDE

  70. cal0pteryx

    (at least)

  71. river-drinker

I do not know, It might be an issue on my system

  72. river-drinker

I'll try to dig deeper later on

  73. river-drinker

    Thanks cal0pteryx

  74. Codimp

seems I have the same kind of issue since Gajim 2.0 but with all menus

  75. river-drinker

    hmmm...

  76. Codimp

also the interface is very laggy (some letters take 2-3 seconds to appear when I type, same when I click on a workspace)

  77. river-drinker

Oh, I also have the same experience

  78. cal0pteryx

I'm surprised. It's snappier than the GTK3 version for me

  79. cal0pteryx

Codimp, so you're not seeing a menu when clicking on View, Help, etc?

  80. mesonium

    > I'm surprised. It's snappier than the GTK3 version for me For me too. Codimp which system do you use?

  81. Codimp

    > Codimp, so you're not seeing a menu when clicking on View, Help, etc? If I click on a menu it appear, but if then I move my mouse on the menu next to it this other menu appear buggy

  82. Codimp

    > > I'm surprised. It's snappier than the GTK3 version for me > For me too. > > Codimp which system do you use? Archlinux, Xorg, i3

  83. river-drinker

    > If I click on a menu it appear, but if then I move my mouse on the menu next to it this other menu appear buggy I have the exact same thing, this time with Hyprland

  84. mesonium

Codimp: can you check if you use the vulkan renderer and whether you are affected by https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/7326 by any chance?

  85. Codimp

here are the errors I got when running Gajim from CLI : https://paste.notiz.fr/?43e345d6f04759fa#EL3WbwDmTdn6eVEpozwvmAcZ3mKS6ZbXitKV5v58vPyW

  86. Codimp

the issue don't always occur, it seems a little hard to reproduce

  87. mesonium

(The gst lines shouldn't matter, I've seen those myself w/o the mentioned issues, but I will fix them somehow anyway in the future)

  88. Codimp

Also: the file selector to upload a file is broken, when I open it CLI say "(W) gajim.gtk.file_transfer_selector Could not add" and clicking to add a file don't do anything

  89. Codimp

    > (The gst lines shouldn't matter, I've seen those myself w/o the mentioned issues, but I will fix them somehow anyway in the future) yep I tried both with gl and ngl and can't see any diff, but I don't reproduce the issue

  90. mesonium

You use the arch repo or flatpak version?

  91. Codimp

    > You use the arch repo or flatpak version? Arch repo

  92. mesonium

Is Gajim the only gtk4 app affected for you?

  93. Codimp

    > Is Gajim the only gtk4 app affected for you? I don't really know if I use other gtk4 apps, but right now Gajim is the only app with this behaviours

  94. mesonium

    You could try the gtk4-demo

  95. Codimp

yep it's seems to be an issue with my gtk4

  96. mesonium

Regarding which issues? The lag and the menus?

  97. Codimp

I only reproduce a strange other issue with menus (black borders) but not the lag at this time

  98. cal0pteryx

Codimp: that might be the renderer. You can try to switch gtk renderers

  99. Codimp

    > Codimp: that might be the renderer. You can try to switch gtk renderers I tried using an env variable before command but it don't do anything, maybe I need to apply it on all my Xorg session

  100. Codimp

ok, it was an issue with my compositor, sorry ><"

  101. cal0pteryx

Which one now? All issues gone?

  102. Codimp

yep, for now I can reproduce any issue, all is working as expected

  103. Codimp

yep, for now I can't reproduce any issue, all is working as expected

  104. debacle

    nbxmpp does not contain any

  105. debacle

nbxmpp does not contain any documentation anymore, right?
