Is there any logic to the colour used to indicate a contacts status, in MUC seems to be green or red which is logical but accounts and contacts seem to be green or grey and blue which I don't think is logical and I have difficulty distinguishing between blue and green, red would seem more obvious to indicate offline

red is busy, grey is offline

it is like this in most chat application for the last 2 decades

I think so. The rest of the colors is similar in both contexts
