Is it possible to send geolocations using Gajim?

  2. cal0pteryx

    Using geo: URIs, yes

  3. cal0pteryx

    geo:52.000,7.400

  4. p42ity

cal0pteryx: This means, I need to type the location in the correct manner. It means: It is possible without UI-support, right?

  5. cal0pteryx

    It is, yes

  6. cal0pteryx

Copy location from google maps or any other service, prepend "geo:", done

why is my gajim constantly disconnecting me from like every channel

  9. nameless monster

    same with me

  10. lovetox

every channel would probably mean you lose the connection to your server

  11. lovetox

if that happens you can check View -> Debug Console -> Log if it shows somekind of error

  12. Jerry

    > why is my gajim constantly disconnecting me from like every channel My wife has this issue on her Windows machine. Just gave up using Gajim. Connected/Disconnected/Connected/Disconnected .. for days. Even after reboot. On my Windows machine, there's no problem. Haven't had time to dig into it. In the Linux version it used to work great. Then one day it say it couldn't connect. I didn't want to spend time figuring out the issue so I moved to Dino which isn't having a problem.

  13. voker57

that sounds like two clients attempting to log in with the same resource

  14. Jerry

    > that sounds like two clients attempting to log in with the same resource She has Messenger on Android too, which stays connected. But, I have Gajim working on Windows, and Messenger on Android, and Dino, and Conversejs (I'm testing clients) and they are all simultaneously connected without issue.

  15. voker57

so was Gajim on Windows and Linux connected at once?

  16. Jerry

    > that sounds like two clients attempting to log in with the same resource She has Conversations on Android too, which stays connected. But, I have Gajim working on Windows, and Conversations on Android, and Dino, and Conversejs (I'm testing clients) and they are all simultaneously connected without issue.

  17. cal0pteryx

Jerry: check of gajim runs twice on that machine

  18. Jerry

Yes, at one point, until one day they didn't

  19. cal0pteryx

    I.e. task manager > gajim.exe

  20. lovetox

its hard to diagnose something like that just from the fact that Gajim disconnected

  21. Jerry

    > its hard to diagnose something like that just from the fact that Gajim disconnected I did. Just one running

  22. cal0pteryx

But I've seen this as well once.

  23. lovetox

next time gather a debug log, its easy, simply enabling debug logging and send the log file to us, then we can help

  24. Jerry

    > next time gather a debug log, its easy, simply enabling debug logging and send the log file to us, then we can help I'll have some time this weekend. I'll do this.

Is there a specific reason Gajim doesn't have encryption on by default when possible?

  26. Masked Witch

Probably to avoid confusion or compatibility issues. You can go into the Privacy section of your Account settings to set it to OMEMO by default, or PGP/OpenPGP if you have those plugins installed

waffles: https://openports.pl/path/net/gajim the openbsd port has a readme that explains a fix that worked for me. give it a shot on your system.

oh dang nvm. it must have changed. it was to enable "keep alive" if disabled in your account settings though.
