Gajim - 2024-12-23

I'm a big fan of gajim but for some reason on osx it crashes whenenver I click on a link? any way to fix this on osx?

gypsydanger, how does it crash exactly? Do you get a final error message? Can you start if from a terminal and watch, if there is a final Error message, when it crashes?

actually all that seems unrelated maybe? that's just for preview which also doesn't seem to be working

The devs can probably help you out if you stick around for a while.

so it's just the segfault for the links when clicked crashing gajim

yeah having to copy the link and paste it elsewhere isn't the total end of the world for me -- but would be nice if previews and following links worked

Unfortunately I deleted ~/.local/share/gajim/logs.db . Restored the whole dir ~/.local/share/gajim from backup. But now the messages of one contact from the last 7 days cannot be decrypted. Why? His 2 devices and OMEMO keys are still registered with Gajim.

gypsydanger: does this happen also on servers other than localhost? in particular, on some server with a proper tls certificate?

me3, you can only restore from a backup when you didnt exchange any messages after the backup

i guess your backup is older

which means most of your sesssions with contacts are now broken

next time only restore what you lost, and not the whole directory

if you still cant decrypt messags from your contact you need to delete all their fingerprints in the fingerprint dialog

But now PNs of a second contact from yesterday are missing.

Can I make Gajim reading these from the server? (Because in a new installation of Gajim those are read from the server, although not decrypted)

Although looking again, I see multiple backups, I think. Maybe I picked an old one.
