emru
does nbxmpp use gobject?
-
lovetox
No
-
emru
was it using gobject? I'm asking because I see it depends on python3-gobject in my distro
-
emru
and it has gobject as dependency in pyproject.toml
-
lovetox
Ok I misunderstood you, yes this library is necessary

TroytheGardener
How do I configure Gajim to show URL image previews in a chat? From what I can find, there's a URLImagePreview plugin, but I can't seem to find it.
-
TroytheGardener
Sorry - v1.9.5, on windows
-
lovetox
there is no need, Gajim should display it
-
lovetox
you can check preferences for options to display all urls
-
TroytheGardener
It doesn't though
-
lovetox
as said you need to check the preferences
-
TroytheGardener
I've togggled that, and restarted, turnd it off, restarted, turned it back on restarted...
-
lovetox
so what do you see?
-
TroytheGardener
Just a url
-
lovetox
to a image?
-
TroytheGardener
Yes
-
TroytheGardener
If I click on the url it opens in a browser
-
lovetox

-
lovetox
does this load for you?
-
TroytheGardener
I just get a url, no image preview
-
lovetox
check view -> debug console
-
lovetox
for errors
-
TroytheGardener
Nothing informative, one error for "feature not implemented", another error that seems unrelated "recipient not in room"
-
lovetox
just to be clear you activated this setting

-
TroytheGardener
Yes. I've tried turning it off, restarting, turning it back on, and restarting again, no change either way. Odd
-
TroytheGardener
I'm guessing it's something weird between Gajim and Windows, with how Windows handles defaults, but I can't find anything specific. It's the same on 2 machines, Windows 10. One is fairly new
-
lovetox
then you need to enable debug logging, restart and send me the log
-
TroytheGardener
k
-
TroytheGardener
Seems I'm unable ot attach a file to this chat?
-
lovetox
you can send it to my mail philipp@hoerist.com
-
TroytheGardener
Done. Thx.
-
lovetox
it says TLS verification failed: ['The signing certificate authority is not known']
-
lovetox
are you using maybe some kind of proxy on that machine?
-
lovetox
seems the problem affects only some domains
-
lovetox
seems your machine has no problem downloading stuff from gajim.org
-
TroytheGardener
Nope, no proxy anywhere
-
TroytheGardener
Oh that's interesting
-
TroytheGardener
Phone and other machines are on the same net, and don't have a problem. So odd
-
lovetox
https://gajim.org/img/gajim-logo.png
-
lovetox
do you see this?
-
TroytheGardener
looks like an icon?
-
TroytheGardener
like the Gajim icon
-
lovetox
yes its a picture on gajim.org
-
TroytheGardener
Yea, shows as the icon, not a url
-
lovetox
yes thats what it looks like if it does not run into an error
-
lovetox
meaning the preview works if it actually can download the data
-
lovetox
and it seems it cannot for some domains on your machine, but can for others
-
TroytheGardener
Ok, so it's not Gajim or machine config. Thanks for helping clarify that at least!
-
TroytheGardener
Guess I'll have off topic go check the router, see if anything weird is going on.
-
lovetox
its maybe kinda a machine config
-
lovetox
it says the it cannot verify the cert
-
TroytheGardener
Happens on 2 machines, so muct be something on my network. Though it doesn't affect the phones or iPad
-
lovetox
meaning maybe you dont have setup the root certs for specific providers
-
lovetox
the link i posted earlier
-
lovetox
does it open normal in your browser?
-
TroytheGardener
Ah, that could be too. I'll start digging. Yay
-
TroytheGardener
Yea, browser is fine.
-
lovetox
hm though browser is often not a good test, as they ship their own certs sometimes
-
TroytheGardener
Previews just don't show in Gajim, so I thought I had a misconfig there, or something perhaps in windows default handlers, but image files open right
-
lovetox
i dont think its something on the network, because then it wouldnt work in the browser
-
TroytheGardener
Yea, good point. I've got something not set right...sigh
-
TroytheGardener
lol
-
lovetox
i would check the root cert store in windows, and try to look if you find the root cert for that provider where it does not work maybe
-
TroytheGardener
It's not crucial either, just annoying. I can live with it, but the wife and family aren't going to tolerate it. haha
-
TroytheGardener
Cool, I'll check. Thanks again.
-
lovetox
in the case of the link i posted earlier
-
lovetox
its GlobalSign Root CA - R3
-
TroytheGardener
Oh, thanks. That'll help
