On Fedora 40 and getting this error for OMEMO. protobuf doesn't have a version over 3.19.6-8.fc40

  3. demigod33

hey can anyone help me test if my e2e encryption works on my client?

  4. Lightning Bjornsson (they, he, xe/hir)

now when someone starts typing in a public chatroom that doesn't have a description (so the name and description bar at the top shows only a name, and is thus smaller than when showing a name and description), and then stops (which makes the description line, containing that someone is typing, go away), the chat pane shimmies up from being fully scrolled down a tiny bit. v. 1.9.3. i refuse to believe this is something you could not possibly have tested videos from my camcorder with voice-over in esperanto available on request

Lightning Bjornsson (they, he, xe/hir): if you ran an up to date version, you would already be enjoying the fix

  6. cal0pteryx

    > i refuse to believe this is something you could not possibly have tested You better start believing then

  7. lovetox

Maybe this is an application to become Gajim tester 🤣

  8. PMR

how often do you guys check your programs status on xmpp.org for compliance being up to date?

  9. cal0pteryx

PMR: it's all automated. We publish gajim's doap file which describes supported features. The rest is magic

  10. demigod33

can i message someone to make sure my omemo encryption works? am a newbie trying to figure things out

  11. chud

    yeah

  12. PMR

what's the current XEP you guys are working on? or are you hunting down bug fixes in existing xeps already.

  13. PMR

i saw only core IM compliance

  14. cal0pteryx

PMR: is your question: why does gajim not comply to x compliance suite?

  15. cal0pteryx

Or what would you like to know?

  16. PMR

XMPP lists things in "core" and "advanced" features, right?

  17. PMR

so that means some part of gajim's instant messaging is not yet fully done or else it wouldnt be marked at just core

  18. cal0pteryx

PMR: reaching "advanced" is not a goal every client must reach. This depends very much on the scope of a client

  19. PMR

What would you need to reach advanced? would it just be quality of life stuff?

  20. lovetox

There is no advanced in https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0479.html

  21. PMR

So some xeps only have core versions?

  22. cal0pteryx

PMR: a compliance suite lists required xeps. Core has a base set of xeps, while advanced adds some more xeps to the core set. This applies to each suite

  23. cal0pteryx

Please look into the xep linked above. It has multiple tables explaining how this works

  24. lovetox

Ah now I see the advanced column

  25. cal0pteryx

You'll see that for "core" there are two columns mentioning "client", which is what's applying to gajim https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0479.html#core

  26. Kris

    https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0490.html

  27. Kris

Will this be added to Gajim?

  28. lovetox

    yes

  29. aereaux

    > https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0490.html There's an MR for it that works quite well so far

  30. Kris
