Gajim - 2024-10-04

Hi all, I've just added an issue (feature request) in Gajim GitLab (https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/-/issues/639) , but I do not find how to add the label "feature" to the issue. Sorry for the trivial question, but I'm not understanding (I've also read the Help manual) v.

Hi, I ran Gajim via console. here some things that happened, and what happend while forcing the crash, via repeated trying to save a picture.

judging by the Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" the portal mentioned by hannibal is really missing.

IMO the right solution would be, that xdg-desktop-portal-xapp becomes a dependency of the meta package xfce4 (like it is done on Arch Linux)

Hi. Some clients have a 'notes to self' feature, basically to send short messages between my devices. Does that exist in Gajim?

Is running multiple (Windows portable) Gajim instances impossible?

not impossible but needs some hacking

you need to modify the link where you start the portable

and pass as command line arg "-p someProfileName"

That said, ok so `-p=profile1` (with the dash) doesn't start anything while another portable Gajim instance without a `p=...` has been started.

I sent some MUC whispers in conversations/cheogram, but they don't seem to appear in gajim (only the inbound messages). Am I looking in the wrong place, or is there something I'm missing?

you mean if you have the chat open with the contact?

or you expecting a notification?

works for me with conversations, if i open the pm chat, messages from gajim, and conversations are visible

at least here in this chat

I don't necessarily need a notification, but I see the messages from the other person in the MUC in a separate entry in the chat list, but my messages to them do not appear there

I'm having issues with Gajim not syncing messages (encrypted with OMEMO) from private chats (not MUCs) unless Gajim is running. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm running a Snikket server.

Hey guys. Could you help me out? For some reason I can't establish video or audio calls via gajim. However they work with same contact over conversations. Do you know where should I dig to solve this issue?

How do I leave group chats for good in Gajim? I've deleted them from other clients but in Gajim they still appear when there are new messages

There is only move, mute, and remove history. But nothing like leave

If you hover over a chat in the chatlist, I think there's an x button in the corner

I don't have Gajim open in front of me, but IIRC there's a confirmation message "do you really want to leave"
