it's probably better to have highlights be case insensitive for the times when people time a nick with wrong case

Good Morning(CEST) :) When I want to use a password secured conference room, I always have to enter the password after starting Gajim. I do use gnome keyring, but it seems to me that Gajim doesn't (here). Anything I could do? I use Gajim 1.7.3-2 from Debian bookworm with sway as window manager.

  4. lovetox

Hmm I can test in the evening if I can reproduce. Should work normally

  5. Markus

    That would be nice, thanks!

  6. nicoco

Man, row merging and displayed markers interaction in MUCs make stuff so complicated every time I come back to it I give up xD

  7. nicoco

Context: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/merge_requests/980 I’m now thinking the ‘eye’ icon should not be with other icons at the top, but instead on the right side of the message row, and does not interact with row merging at all. I’ll try this way

  8. aereaux

Just want to say thanks for working on this nicoco! This is one of the features that I've been most missing when I use gajim

I think this is actually better than the screenshot in the MR, because row merging stuff. However, tooltip does not work anymore, this seems related to the fact that the cursor stays in ‘text selection’ and does not turn into an ‘arrow’. GUI work drives me crazy, maybe cal0pteryx will help me here, I have no idea where this behavior is determined. 😊

  11. debacle

Dears, if I have `<a href="xmpp:foo\40example.com@otherexample.com">foo</a>` in my browser HTML and open the link with Gajim, it tries to communicate with `foo%5c40example.com@otherexample.com`. Where is the bug? In the HTML or in Gajim?

  12. skizzik

Server-to-server connection failed: policy-violation (Communication with this domain is restricted)

  13. skizzik

What's the solution to this problem?

  14. skizzik

    Can someone help me?

  15. lissine

skizzik: you should ask your server operator

  16. skizzik

I send messages to each other. And I get this.

  18. lissine

It's not an issue with Gajim, or any client. Your server doesn't allow server-to-server connection to your contact's server.

  19. skizzik

    616. pub's jabber

  20. lissine

do you mean that both you and your contact use the same server?

  21. skizzik

I don't know the contact person. Because I haven't gotten in touch.

  22. skizzik

    So I should contact 616.pub?

  23. lissine

skizzik: join this channel and ask for help there xmpp:room.616.pub?join

  25. lissine

yes, the channel doesn't work try contacting the admin directly yc@616.pub

  26. skizzik

lissine, ok I tried to contact admin Thank you very much for your help!

  27. skizzik

I think it should be very difficult to get a reply from admin

  28. lissine

skizzik: if you don't get an answer, you can register with any public server

  29. lissine

    for example from https://providers.xmpp.net

  30. skizzik

    yes,i get it

  31. skizzik

But I can only contact each other with this jabber. Because this is the jabber I registered with the contact site.

  32. skizzik

    thank you bro

  33. lissine

    you're welcome

  34. lovetox

debacle: I'm sick, you can ask in jdev if the url is correctly encoded for the web

  35. lissine

I hope you get well soon!

    fjklp, ^

  43. fjklp

hmm, doesn't seem to bad in the image. Is this in a branch that I can run?

  44. fjklp

I'm not even sure I'll get around to doing that

  45. cal0pteryx

no branch yet ;) but I already head people that gajim is "wasting display real-estate"

  46. cal0pteryx

hear* keeping this row empty looks somehow wrong to me

  47. fjklp

    > no branch yet ;) but I already head people that gajim is "wasting display real-estate" Yes, this is a valid concern. I would imagine a few people complaining. I'm trying to come up with ideas but something like the way in the image seems most sane.

  48. meson

    > keeping this row empty looks somehow wrong to me For me too

  49. fjklp

The simplest solution there is just to have an option to enable/disable typing notifications, which would also remove that space when disabled.

  50. fjklp

btw, do we presently have an option to disable typing notifications?

  51. cal0pteryx

    Nope

  52. meson

There's animation with 3 dots, when someone is typing. It could become clickable for toggling or show information on hover

  53. meson

    Not sure about discoverability

  54. cal0pteryx

:D meson, that's exactly what it is on master

  55. meson

    😎

  56. aereaux

One thing that could be improved with the current master version is making it slightly transparent. Right now it seems to block the most recent message when unfurled

  57. cal0pteryx

I tried that, looks kind of broken to me :P You can try yourself by using GtkInspector and changing the widget's opacity

  58. aereaux

Oh interesting, how do you enable GtkInspector? I tried Ctrl+Shift+I mentioned here: https://developer.gnome.org/documentation/tools/inspector.html
