  1. shodan

How do you export a year of group chat history as an html or word document, including all images, sounds and video to immortalize it ?

  2. fjklp

    not going to happen

  3. fjklp

    I suspect you know that

  4. shodan

I had an intuition I am starting to get, what programmers think is the value of human expression and communication

  5. shodan

And "worth saving" is the opposite of that

  6. fjklp

shodan: you can export all chats for a given account at Accounts>account>Privacy>Export Chat History

  7. fjklp

then I assume you know that images and videos are stored in a directory called 'downloads'. Beyond that, you could make a feature request on the issue tracker.

  8. shodan

Ok thanks, that is not so bad actually ! I was overly pessimistic

  10. shodan

I can probably make a script that turns URLs into file:// links And then run "SingleFile" to concatenate all that. I just hope the URLs like upload/7a4d6c98756bb631bdf4aaef044842c4b7ba3d38/2QjFHO0khZbGbeYCY9FeNp2H1Mwma5XLSZTMgtwo/768C9112-6EA6-4570-818A-FB467DF19E81.jpg map one to one with downloaded files in the cache folder

  11. adam

    How do I install gajim-nighly on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS ? https://conference.gajim.org:5281/pastebin/7a4ea685-6293-442f-b437-83255b17db3c

  12. fjklp

    flatpak is the easy way

  13. adam

True but if I wanted to be stubborn and use apt, is there a method?

  14. cal0pteryx

adamski: no, because your OS does not provide up to date dependencies

  15. adamski

Ok I just went with the flatpak

  17. adamski

Any idea why the tray icon is a sad red smily?

  18. fjklp

lol, I wonder how your system did that. On mine it was 3 dots. I believe it's due to a missing icon. It's fixed now in nightly so it will be in the next release.

  19. fjklp

you can always install the nightly flatpak if you are feeling adventurous.

  20. fjklp

should I make an issue for my objection to the current typing notification?

  21. adamski

    OK thanks :)

  22. cal0pteryx

    > should I make an issue for my objection to the current typing notification? I tried with an extra bar above the message input, but that looked bad

    🤔 1
  23. fjklp

How was it structured? Do you have images you could share?

  24. cal0pteryx

Just a narrow bar above the input. I can show one later

  25. Link Mauve

asterix, could you lenghten the duration before which pastes are deleted in this room? I’m coming back from a festival and I already can’t see the commits that got merged in a single message because you deleted the paste.

  26. Link Mauve

Maybe also increasing the number of lines that get pasted would help, so that fewer messages would get pasted?

  27. lovetox

sadly prosody does not expose the config settings in the muc config form

  28. mongol

    Hi

  29. mongol

    People still use gajim

  30. mongol

    ?

  31. cal0pteryx

Yes, 20 years and still going

  32. mongol

    Sam that's a long time

  33. mongol

    Dam

  34. mongol

    Does gajim support i2p connection

  35. cal0pteryx

    Nope

  36. mongol

    20years and it still can't 🤣

  37. cal0pteryx

    No demand ;)

  38. mongol

cal0pteryx: I just use conversations on android these days

  39. mongol

Easy to connect over i2p / tor or clsarnet

  40. lovetox

    fjklp, about the timezone issue

  41. lovetox

you should not delete the content of the setting

  42. lovetox

you should fill it with the way you want to have time shown

  43. lovetox

we default to the system time setting, seems your system adds the timezone, but you can simply change that with that setting, or on your system

  44. lovetox

i would say showing your own timezone is not really useful

  45. lovetox

ok .. i try to register on archlinux

  46. lovetox

and i need to solve a pacman game?

  47. lovetox

    ahhh loool

  48. lovetox

    i downloaded pacman on ubuntu

  49. lovetox

and its a real pacman game, and archlinux probably means i should call their packagemanager, which is also called pacman

  50. lovetox

can somebody having the arch pacman manager provide me with the output of `LC_ALL=C pacman -V|sed -r 's#[0-9]+#081#g'|md5sum|cut -c1-6`

  51. asterix

the current threshold is 12 lines (12*132 chars) sin't it enough? for the time it's the default value : 24h. I can set it to 72h?

  52. lovetox

lets set lines to maybe 30

  53. lovetox

i think we only want to protet against huge pastes

  54. lovetox

we also now can moderate messages, which was not possible in the past

  55. asterix

    ok

  56. asterix

    done

  57. fjklp

    > we default to the system time setting, seems your system adds the timezone, but you can simply change that with that setting, or on your system It's not a matter of the time format containing a specification of time offset. It's that quoting a message with the exact time will implicitly reveal time zone. If you send a message at 6:30 and I quote and repost the message with time of 6:30, is shows that I'm in that same time zone.
