I reset my password through my email, but I can't get my email. Does anyone know what happened?

  3. lucky9988

What happened when I did not receive an email to reset my password after submitting the Forgot Password form?

  4. fjklp

lucky9988: we have no way of knowing. You should contact the admins of xmpp.jp directly.

  5. lucky9988

Thanks for your reply! How do I contact the xmpp.jp administrator?

  6. fjklp

there is a form to send them a message at https://www.xmpp.jp/contact

  7. lucky9988

Thank you. I'll try to send an email to the administrator

  8. lucky9988

Still no response. Can anyone help me?

  9. lovetox

how should we be able to help if the xmpp server you use does not send you an email?

  10. lucky9988

  11. lucky9988

As shown in the picture, I have sent the application for retrieving my password. The system shows that it has sent an email to the bound mailbox, but I have been unable to receive it

  12. lovetox

We are not affiliated with xmpp.jp, nobody here can help you

  13. lucky9988

    Well, thanks for replying!

  14. fjklp

    > justin, you need to install libqca-qt5-2-plugins Is there any way that that situation can be avoided through setting dependencies?

  15. fjklp

    cool, my avatar isn't showing

  16. lissine

fjklp: your avatar was never shown

  17. fjklp

lissine: I see it now. Do you?

  18. lissine

    fjklp: no

  19. fjklp

yeah, seems avatars are fairly broken in gajim

  20. lissine

fjklp: Check this privacy setting: For starters, make sure your avatar is > click on your account's avatar in the bottom left -> three dots next to your address -> profile -> edit -> hand icon (privacy) Should be set to everyone.

  21. lissine

And check that your server supports the relevant XEPs

  22. lissine

    XEP-153 and XEP-398

  23. fjklp

I always forget about that. It's turned on now.

  24. fjklp

but I do have other problems with avatars in gajim

  25. lissine

    Like what?

  26. fjklp

like yesterday the gajim muc avatar disappeared for while

  27. fjklp

who knows if it's gajim or the server causing it

  28. fjklp

also, other users avatars taking forever to be loaded

  29. maximus

fjklp, actually this is happening to me right now

  30. lissine

That problem was specific with the Gajim channel on the Gajim client

  31. lissine

    > also, other users avatars taking forever to be loaded That's normal, the first time you join a channel, avatars aren't all fetched right away

  32. lissine

They are fetched little by little

  33. lissine

fjklp: I still don't see your avatar. It's likely that you're using a rare format like AVIF, or your server is misconfigured

  34. fjklp

I think it's png. It's likely the server. This account is gajim.org. I get problems with failed authentication, failed http uploads, why not failed avatars too?

  35. lissine

    😂😂

  36. lissine

Why not use another server? Or better, host your own?

  37. fjklp

it seems the server admin is unresponsive as well, since some weeks back

  38. fjklp

I do need to make a new account

  39. fjklp

it would be nice if the gajim.org server stopped registration and retired accounts too

  40. fjklp

it would be nice if the gajim.org server stopped registration and retired accounts too (after sufficient notice is given)

  41. fjklp

I see no reason to keep such services open if you don't care to make them work

  42. fjklp

hell, I might be the only person with an account there

  43. lissine

    fjklp: check out https://compliance.conversations.im/server/gajim.org/

  44. lissine

The server lacks some modern XEPs

  45. lissine

Most of which a fresh prosody install has enabled by default

  46. fjklp

I feel these types of lists are fairly dubious. Isn't it generated by what the server claims to support?

  47. lissine

I think yes, but the compliance tester may do more to test for support

  48. fjklp

I feel similarly about similar lists. They would be better if they tested performance.

  49. fjklp

you could be listed in the A category on providers.xmpp.net and have bad performance

  50. fjklp

you could be in the D category and have good performance

  51. lissine

fjklp: these compliance lists do matter as well. For example, your server doesn't support push notifications. So, if you use an iphone, you're going to have no notifications

  52. fjklp

I do think that compliance reporting is good, but also misleading and incomplete

  53. cal0pteryx

    > you could be listed in the A category on providers.xmpp.net and have bad performance fjklp: no, you need a minimum compliance score to be in A

  54. cal0pteryx

    > I do think that compliance reporting is good, but also misleading and incomplete It's better than having no clue at all, is it?

  55. fjklp

cal0pteryx: is there anything preventing a server from being in A if the server has frequent cpu overload that causes message throughput to be delayed for 30 seconds?

  56. fjklp

    > It's better than having no clue at all, is it? I do think it's better than nothing, yes.

  57. cal0pteryx

    > cal0pteryx: is there anything preventing a server from being in A if the server has frequent cpu overload that causes message throughput to be delayed for 30 seconds? No, but that's also not about compliance

  58. cal0pteryx

You're right in that performance matters, sure :)
