yeah, seems avatars are fairly broken in gajim

fjklp: Check this privacy setting: For starters, make sure your avatar is > click on your account's avatar in the bottom left -> three dots next to your address -> profile -> edit -> hand icon (privacy) Should be set to everyone.

And check that your server supports the relevant XEPs

XEP-153 and XEP-398

They are fetched little by little

I think it's png. It's likely the server. This account is gajim.org. I get problems with failed authentication, failed http uploads, why not failed avatars too?

I think yes, but the compliance tester may do more to test for support

I feel similarly about similar lists. They would be better if they tested performance.

you could be in the D category and have good performance

fjklp: these compliance lists do matter as well. For example, your server doesn't support push notifications. So, if you use an iphone, you're going to have no notifications

I do think that compliance reporting is good, but also misleading and incomplete
