hmm, seems like I couldn't remove my account since it was still trying to connect. had to disable connect on startup, restarted, and was able to delete my other account from Gajim :)

loading https://providers.xmpp.net/ in my browser takes over 15 seconds. I assume this isn't normal?
-
fjklp
it's been that way for a long time too

From the issue: Seems you don't get a response for 15 seconds. It's intended to timeout after 15 seconds in order to allow editing the address field. So no bug on Gajim's side. What's wrong is that xmpp.net's DNS server is faulty and it can take quite some time to initially resolve this address. This should be fine after the XSF's infrastructure team moves to a different DNS provider.

It's planned to move soon. The DNS response time of xmpp.net is bugging me for ages

Ok. Good to hear.

Honestly, I've never encountered a slow dns server. I wonder how they managed to make that happen.

It's not slow, but misconfigured

Likely interesting for some of us > A few years ago, PyGObject—the Python package that provides bindings for GTK and GNOME applications—was not faring particularly well. Several maintainers had left the project and its development was not keeping pace with changes in GTK. At this year's GUADEC, Dan Yeaw presented a talk about the project's decline, improvements in the last year, and his experience getting involved in an undermaintained project. https://events.gnome.org/event/209/contributions/757/ Recording +slides of the presentation are linked there

Hi team, excellent job building this software! I just made a modest donation through Liberapay. The amount would have been several times larger and the donation itself would have come much sooner if you offered a cryptocurrency option (ETH/XMR/BTC etc.). I do my best to minimize my use of banking institutions to the greatest extent possible because I see their financial hegemony as being complicit in most of the wrongdoing that is taking place on our planet currently. Something for you to consider...

> Ichtyx: > Btw why not only one omemo implementation in rust and all other lib relate to that through Wasm ? single point of failure.

hivem: the Prose team is building something like that, but apparently there is an issue with concurrency in Wasm right now that make this fail. no expert on the details though.

Hi, the cert for https://paste.gajim.org/ appears to be issued to a *.leboulanger.org domain. Is this intentional?

Too bad they're on GitHub though. No other single company has wreaked as much havoc within the open souce community as Microsoft, maybe aside from Intel. ↺
