Is it possible to disable omemo in gajim to avoid the upload of new fingerprints?
-
lovetox
No

maximus
hi, so basically I have 2 gajim apps on 2 different devices, one installed with flatpak and one built from git, even though I verified both fingerprints on both clients, whenever I send a message from one I always get "This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted." on the other one
-
maximus
this happens only when I send a message with gajim, if I use other clients I'm able to see the sent message✎ -

No, not a version problem
-
maximus
does anyone know what could be the cause?

maximus: in the chats where this is happening, try sending encrypted messages from both clients

lissine, did it, in this case works
-
maximus
it's a problem with the encryption
-
maximus
I think

it worked

maximus
oh sorry
-
maximus
I misread it
-
lissine
It's not a problem with encryption. It's a problem with the discovery of encryption keys
-
maximus
I read "try sending UNencrypted messages from both clients"
-
maximus
sorry, my bad
-
maximus
but anyway, that's what I did in the first place, it doesn't work when sending messages from both gajim clients
-
maximus
I can only read the sent message from the same client I sent it, but in the other one displays that error
-
maximus
"This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted."
-
lissine
Then it's a separate issue from what I'm talking about
-
maximus
I wonder what might be the issue, is there a log I can take a look?

Hello. I have some problems after installion Gajim v1.9.1 on Windows 8.1. i have launched a client and debug gave me error and this message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." What does it mean? I have installed full and portable versions, a error is same. I can give full debug logs, if it need.

maximus: are the two gajims really on different devices?
-
lovetox
Did you copy data from one device to the other?
-
maximus
yup, they are 2 different devices

egelaldar
I installed full version, got a error, after i delete full version, and installed portable version. It's all was on same device
-
lovetox
egelaldar, hard to say if you cannot start the application it will hard to gather a debug log
-
lovetox
what version did you have before running?
-
lovetox
windows 8.1 is in general out of support
-
cal0pteryx
Since many dependencies stop supporting windows versions as soon as they are out of support, I would also guess that this is the case.
-
lovetox
maximus, so you are saying messages from both gajim devices are not decryptable on your third device?
-
lovetox
the error message sounds like something goes wrong
-
lovetox
there is a debug option in the client under preferences
-
lovetox
record a debug log, receive a message where it says cannot be decrypted
-
lovetox
and send me the log
-
maximus
> maximus, so you are saying messages from both gajim devices are not decryptable on your third device? messages are decryptable for third device, but not for the other gajim device ↺
-
lovetox
you can try to go to the fingerprint window and delete the fingerprint of the other gajim device
-
lovetox
then restart and send again a message
-
lovetox
often that fixes it
-
lovetox
if not i need the debug log
-
maximus
lovetox, that's what I'm going to do
-
maximus
lovetox, thank you, that was an easy fix, it worked!
-
maximus
unfortunately old messages remained unable to decrypt, but doesn't matter
-
Michael
Any plans for adding call/video support?
-
meson
Michael: There is ongoing work (two open MR), but no ETA.

sezuan: I use gnome chats for a omemoless desktop client
