    is my understanding correct that receiving files through jingle is broken in 1.8.4?

    Afaik it does not work reliably, and there has been some bit rot. I would declare it dysfunctional

    no it's just I noticed a signature mismatch when constructing a file transfer content and I wanted to quickly check if it's my fault or it's been like that 😀

    intelfx, you are welcome if you want to look at that, we are now in the situation that basically nothing jingle related works correctly

    so a good moment to look at all the code and maybe refactor it to something better

    problem with normal jingle ft is that the network code is ancient and based on pythons socket module
