it20: Sorry, there is no fix for it at present, aside from not activating so many accounts. I sent that link to cal0pteryx just to make it clear that I knew there is (probably) a coming change that will fix it.

it20: In case you don't know, you do have the option to disable accounts if you don't need them by going to Accounts > Modify Accounts, then turn off the switch on the account to disable.

ohh thanks.. I think gajim was good before 1.8.. we are facing some issues like this one. Another good feature we are missing is copying multiple chatlog with mouse selection.. developers should fix the bugs asap..

it20: 1.8 did not change anything regarding account sidebar handling compared to previous versions (I think since 1.4). Really depends on the version you upgraded from. You can select multiple messages via each message's menu (right hand side > select messages)

As said, disable some accounts if you enabled so many, and one of the coming releases will fix this issue. In the meantime you have to use the workaround described.

thank you.. another point i like to mention that is.. In the left side account tab there is only single letter or avatar visible. As i have multiple account it is difficult to distinguish from them as i can not see the full name of the accounts and workspaces.. It also should be changed.

The upcoming change will fix that as well, as full account names are shown within the menu

As for workspaces: there is a tooltip and you are free to choose colors, initials or emojis

hi, I'm completely new to gajim and xmpp, could anyone help me with command for Triggers plugin that would open new message in focused window?

I've seen on some forum there was an option like that as a radio button, but it seems to be gone in newer versions

there is no "message read by recipient" status in Gajim anymore, right? I remember that there was single checkmark for sent messages and double checkmark for read messages, now there is only single checkmark

there is a line that says, contact has read up to this point

only in single chat

with native xmpp contacts it works.

you can open the plugin settings, and look what you can configure

i dont see a way to open a message, most is you can execute a command, like "gajim" and raise the application

nor would i see it useable, what if you receive 2 messages from 2 contacts? then it would jump to the first, shortly afterwards to the second, and you would never know you received a message from the first contact because the chat is now marked as "read"

we did simple setup for our two users that sit next to each other, logged into same profile but obviously if one opens up the message the notification disappears ( we set them up to be constantly up till somebody clicks it), if the other user was away from computer there's nothing to indicate new message when he comes back

if the other one already opened notification

we send messages very rarely, its more like an emergency that we need to make sure user sees the message

trigger plugin has the option to raise a popup when a message comes

that way the user sees the popup

so at the moment it's only to receive but they will be told to confirm it somehow (text confirmation)

so i think the problem is the read state sync of gajim, when someone reads the message on one machine this info is synced to the other

you can turn this behavior off i think

its Account -> Privacy -> Send Read Markers

if you turn that off, there should be no read state sync anymore

you can also turn off this setting per chat, in the chatsettings of that chat, if you dont want to turn it off globally ✏

In general to maybe have a more stable solution for the future, i think it maybe better to use different profiles, but all users join a specific group chat

you could simply have a xmpp bot, that relays messages into this groupchat

but not sure this works, depends on who or what is sending these messages
