Upstream stuff you mean the abandonware library farstream? They already packaged an updated version of that in the flatpak. Are we waiting for distros to pick up that fork or?...

On the Gajim side I still want to implement xep-0353 and cleanup the rest of the Jingle state machine

The real challenge will be getting someone to review Farstream stuff ;)

Yep, there's quite a few moving parts to get into place. The problem is Gajim's Jingle implementation looks... generally neglected, so I'm fixing as many correctness and usability bugs as possible along the way. ✏

I have a problem with Omemo keys from Gajim instances on computers that I am rarely online with (only once every 4-6 weeks). Currently, for example, the key of such a rarely used machine on my main computer is displayed as inactive, although I have now brought both computers online at the same time as a test, and am trying to send myself encrypted messages via the "note to me". What can I do?

I read somewhere that a workaround could be to sync the whole gajim dir in "appdata" and work with the same profile, but this would be an extra effort with configuration and synchronisation...

(I could use a portable installation?) what is the best practice here?

yes you will have problems when you are only online every 6 weeks

its baked into omemo, its a security precaution, devices will be marked as inactive

I can't read many messages in "notiz an mich" on the computer I'm rarely online with. and vice versa.

I have a chat right now, I could do some pastes with anonymized content, if that is interesting for you. on Client A, everything is readable, on Client B not. (Diese Nachricht wurde mit OMEMO verschlüsselt und konnte nicht entschlüsselt werden.)
