hey sorry for the noob question, could not find the answer to this, but how do you join a invite only/private muc that you're already a member of on gajim? it seems whenever i try to start/join chat to do this, the window is completely blank and sending messages gives me a service-unavailable. i even tried the create group chat function to see if that would help me join the muc for some reason, ofc does not work. and yes, i tried the global search function and searching in the Group Chat tab in the start/join chat dialog, but none of that worked. ik im a member of the mucs and that they should work because it works just fine in other clients. am i missing something here? im using gajim 1.7.3 on debian bookworm

"service-unavailable" sounds like "server is down" to me

  3. r00tobo

very much sounds a server related issue

  4. nixclown

    hmm...

  5. nixclown

now that you mention it, while the mucs do tend to work in other clients, my provider is kinda weird about what works and what doesnt. let me try asking my provider's op.

  6. nixclown

the mucs are indeed up, and i've joined them using this provider plenty of times, so it gives me the impression this is a gajim issue, however i haven't ruled out the possibility of a missing xep anyways because sometimes certain clients dont behave quite how they should anyways

  7. r00tobo

I use Gajim 1.7.3 on debian bookworm like you and I have never had a similar issue like yours

“service-unavailable” means you are trying to communicate with an account but not a room. And this account does not exist, or its white list or black list does not allow communicate with you.

How do I send private messages to people from a MUC where PM's are enabled?

Double-click an occupant in the Occupant list.

  12. bluespace

Wow okay that was easy, yet not entirely obvious, lol. Thank you!

Hello, I noted that emoji interpreatation is enabled inside code blocks

  14. resoli

Ops. Sorry my mistake. It was the source of the code that was already broken.

Calling Gajim on the console shows me 2 errors and 2 warnings. The at least the last 3 sound serious. What do they mean and what can I do about them? Is there a logfile with more detailed info?

  18. nicoco

The last warning just means that the signal gateway of your server is down, nothing that gajim can do about it. The 2nd error might or might not be serious. If everything works for you, don't worry!

2 hours ago I got a pn only on my mobile, but not in Gajim. Although yesterday I had no such issue with the same person.

    > Wow okay that was easy, yet not entirely obvious, lol. Thank you! It would probably be good if we had a context menu item for sending a message

  21. lovetox

me3, try open a conversation with this contact via pm, i think the message will be there

  22. lovetox

Gajim does not notify you about PM messages if they were already received on another device

  23. me3

lovetox, I've send another pm to this person. His message is still missing. > Gajim does not notify you about PM messages if they were already received on another device Is this meant to be a feature? How could I backup a conversation if I can't be sure to include all messages?

  24. lovetox

    notfiy means not its missing

  25. lovetox

it just means when you turn on your device you dont see a unread message

  26. lovetox

the message should be there, are you sure the user did not change nickname

  27. lovetox

because then its a different user

  28. me3

    > it just means when you turn on your device you dont see a unread message

  29. me3

But his message is not in ~/.local/share/gajim/logs.db

  30. fjklp

maybe watch your xml console when he sends you one of these messages and see if it shows up there
