why?

never in my live i looked into a keyring

its just where the system stores passwords so they dont lie around in plain

users store there passwords somewhere else

i guess at least on linux and windows

on MacOS the keyring is probably the main password manager for users

How do I make it possible to receive chats from anyone? Not just certain people.

I installed Gajim on Fedora and it says my group chat should be non-anonymouse blablabla to use OMEMO in a group

In that case, it's likely that your xmpp service provider has a setting that prevents users from receiving private messages from people who are not in your contact list. You have to add a person to your contact list to receive messages from them in this case. This is to prevent users receiving spam. If you want, you can also ask your service provider to disable this for you, I'm not sure if that's possible.

Is there any reason we would want to have multiple domains in the list of recommended xmpp service providers where they all use the same xmpp server but have different domains? ✏

So that users have a choice of which server they would like to use.

Balancing the usage of the servers so that no one server is the biggest.

And XMPP, just like email, was meant to be "distributed/spread out". Hosted by multiple people, not just one entity.

It started when I found that a provider no longer existed and I was going to report it. Then I thought that I should not be lazy and figure out every provider that is a candidate to be removed and report it all at once.
