Gajim - 2023-11-20

  1. fjklp

gajim is actively evading my attempts to figure out the bug that made new mucs get renamed after old mucs

  2. fjklp

I took meticulous notes, restarted gajim, now I won't do it again, after reproducing it tens of times

  3. fjklp

Is it normal for the jid_id number to ever be different from the line number in the jids table of logs.db?

  4. fjklp

I see that jid_id 19 went missing somehow, and I wonder if that's related to what I was experiencing. It also happens to be next to the jid of one of the mucs I recently created.

  5. fjklp

So in my jids table, jid_id matches line number up until jid_id 19 is missing, then all the jid_id are off by one from the line number

  6. fjklp

When I say the mucs were renamed, they weren't actually renamed, but most places in the gajim UI would show the wrong name.

  7. fjklp

ok, it's doing it again :)

  8. matthias

sometimes my chathistory in a muc lookes like that:

  10. matthias

any ideas how to disable these status messages? I tried to disable it in the configuration but It did not work

  11. matthias

    "show status changes" is disabled

  12. lovetox

matthias, hm you cant disable that, it looks like this MUC is behaving wrong

  13. matthias

I think that this problem only occurs at my laptop which constantly goes to "sleep" an wakes up again. I sometimes think gajim behaves strange in that case. i will check this evening

  14. lovetox

hm yeah if you rejoin the channel this message would be shown

  15. tomchaplin

How to disable the Gajim notification messages which overlay the screen?

  16. tomchaplin

I want to be notified just by sound and tray icon

  17. lovetox

    probably in your OS somewhere

  18. lovetox

check notification settings on your OS and disable it for Gajim

  19. fjklp

    > Is it normal for the jid_id number to ever be different from the line number in the jids table of logs.db? can anyone answers this?

  20. lovetox

fjklp, i think you are on the wrong path

  21. lovetox_

the name is stored in bookmarks

  22. lovetox_

    not in the database

  23. fjklp

bookmarks get downloaded in xml at startup?

  24. fjklp

no, this problem is more than that

  25. fjklp

the address shown in group chat details is wrong, for example

  26. adarol

Hi, why doesn't Gajim require providing existing password when trying to change it?

  27. cal0pteryx

adarol: so that nobody can change your password when you leave your computer unattended?

  28. adarol

    read my question again.

  29. cal0pteryx

    Haha

  30. cal0pteryx

Don't leave it unattended then *ducks and runs away*

  31. adarol

I mean... I assume xmpp still requires providing the original password, it's just that Gajim will automatically send it without prompting you...

  32. adarol

the same is true for another client

  33. lovetox

That's great if you forgot your password

  34. adarol

    well, I guess 😁

  35. tomchaplin

Hello, how to create a Chatroom on the XMPP server?

  36. polarian

Hm... HTTP upload is set to 1GiB however when I upload a 3mb image, gajim returns "request entity too large"

  37. polarian

    I am so confused

  38. polarian

nginx reverse proxy max body size is also 1GiB

  39. tomchaplin

Oh i am exploring the create a group chat option

  40. tomchaplin

    Ok, that was super easy.

  41. Mx2

Will you support OX? Its quite a compromise ...
