Why does gajim say connecting

No mattee if I uninstall and reinstall keeps saying commenting

It looks like Gajim can not turn off auto-start without one account added...

we have no option for that to my knowledge

you need to turn it off on the system, not in Gajim

Reviewed the manual, it was set during install.

var: Uninstall Gajim with 'Bulk Crap Uninstaller'. Then go inside 'Documents and Settings' and inside 'AppData' hidden folder. And from Local and Roming folders, delete the Gajim Folder and everything inside. ✏

go to preferences -> advanced and enable debug logging

and send me the log

I guess that's already been mentioned yesterday. I think that's a pretty bad habit to force users to adopt. Every X months having them ignore a warning because they don't understand it

How would a normal user know what's the right fingerprint for this month?

Store the previous fingerprint used in the previous connection, and when you reconnect check if the fingerprint is the same, if not give the user a small warning

That is why it should be configurable, it is useful for those who even maintain the server and or know how certificates work and can detect shady changes

actually gajim had this back in the old days 6-7 years ago

we removed it, because this was the time where the whole world started to use lets encrypt and change the cert every 3 month ✏

so most users complained, there are not interested in this warning

But then again, if gajim just reconnects without ever checking if there is a change in certificate

then it makes it a far easier attack

Heres a good example, most of us accept OMEMO keys automatically as we cant be arsed to check them, however we still have the option to manually approve each one.

The former is more convenient, the latter is more secure.
