vagrant: it’s 5:51 am in Europe, someone will help you when it’s daytime here 😊
-
nicoco
Looks like you’re missing icons, how did you install gajim?
-
nicoco
https://conference.gajim.org:5281/muc_log/gajim/ is down. Is it supposed to still work? I don’t know if conference.gajim.org had a hiccup or if it’s a bug in Beagle (Mac OS client, but I’m missing some chat history)

Oh, the web logs are just really slow to show up, but they seem to work, sorry about the noise

Oh OK, I won’t bother investigating if it’s an issue with beagle then. Thanks!

About the IRC icon, I think # is fine. As Kris said a while ago, I think for IRC channels it would be nice if they didn’t have the ‘big IRC logo’ as their avatar, since it makes a bit tedious to distinguish them. However, since the default avatar for MUCs without avatars in gajim is just the first of their names, and all IRC channel names start with #, if we want to improve the situation we need some special rule for IRC and I don’t know if we want that.

lovetox

nicoco, nicoco, I copied the environment to the computer, and git pulled down the project, the execution file started, it showed me this, but I looked at the package is there is an icon, I don't know what to do, is there any solution?

lovetox, ?

Why can't it find the icon? Is it the wrong path? I see this icon exists in the folder.
-
vagrant
lovetox,

lovetox
you dont need to type my name 20 times
-
vagrant
I'm sorry
-
lovetox
did you follow the instructions here https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/wikis/help/Gajim-on-macOS
-
lovetox
dont know what you mean by "copied the environment"
-
vagrant
I did it according to the tutorial, the copy environment is the environment I use conda to control python, put the installed computer environment directly into the computer, the software can be started, but after the startup shows this missing icon, the software is pulled down by git, without that icon, I can not add accounts or other operations
-
vagrant
The environment of the two computers is the same, one can start, the other shows the missing icon, I don't understand what is the problem
-
vagrant
What should I do now?
-
lovetox
no idea, we published a guide for MacOs, it does not contain the word "conda", so no idea what you actually did, and because of that i cannot help.

v

conda is just a tool for managing python versions. I use it to manage my version. How does this affect the icon?
-
vagrant
I want to know when this error occurs, can you tell me?
-
chud
Do calls in gajim actually work with anything but gajim itself?
-
lovetox
vagrant, gajim cannot find the icons, this maybe have todo how gajim is setup, you will need to set prints in application.py -> _startup() where the icons are loaded and check thepath
-
vagrant
I just re-installed it and opened it, but the icon is still not displayed, but it does not affect the operation.

> However, since the default avatar for MUCs without avatars in gajim is just the first of their names, and all IRC channel names start with #, if we want to improve the situation we need some special rule for IRC and I don’t know if we want that. Right 🤦♂️️ Maybe the default avatar of rooms that don't have one could be some random icon instead of the first letter. Something looking like gravatar.
-
nicoco
Meh, random icon does not sound great.
-
nicoco
Maybe, just using the # + consistent color generation from the chan name is already better than having the same avatar for all of them.
-
Kris
the color is generated from what?
-
lissine
> the color is generated from what? https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0392.html
-
Kris
heh, of course there is a XEP for that 🤦♂️️
-
Kris
indeed if the color is different for each IRC room and # is used as the "icon", that sounds better than what we currently have
-
Polixgen
is it possible to check someone's last seen on gajim?
