Gajim - 2023-09-05

Hey does the mailing list doesn't work anymore?

  2. nart

    Hi

  3. bodqhrohro

Does modern Gajim already allow reliable browsing of years of local chat history? It's the primary reason keeping me on 1.3. Another ones are calls and displaying pictures by URLs in non-OOB messages, if I don't miss anything.

  5. lovetox

bodqhrohro, about history search, i think we have the same functionality in the chat view, as back then in the history manager, but if you miss something feel free to tellus

  6. lovetox

about pictures, yes gajim has the option to preview all urls

  7. lovetox

    calls are an open issue

  8. bodqhrohro

lovetox: does it already allow to jump to a certain date, for example? And securely browse some long-dead chat without risk of joining it (including chats of disabled accounts)?

  9. bodqhrohro

Ah, I see the date picker, okay.

  10. lovetox

no you cant read chats of disabled accounts

  11. lovetox

but its not clear why you need to disable it, you can leave it enabled and simply disable autoconnect, so you dont connect to the server

  12. bodqhrohro_

    Nice kludge, hehe.

  13. bodqhrohro_

I have more than 10 accounts in 1.3, I wonder if they would fit the sidebar at all.

  14. lovetox

reading chats of MUCs without joining is possible but only with workarounds

  15. lovetox

basically you need to find a message from this muc in search, that brings you to the view without joining

  16. lovetox

    this should definitly be improved

  17. bodqhrohro_

    17 accounts, actually.

  18. lovetox

    hmm probably not

  19. lovetox

this could also improved, instead of displaying for every account a avatar, when multiple accounts are active, we could only show one button, and if you press it it shows a popover with all accounts which is scrollable

  20. Hiker

How to see the password behind the stars in the account setup?

  21. lovetox

    not possible

  22. Hiker

So what to do when you lost the password?

  23. gooya

If possible, reset your password at the xmpp service provider or make a new account

  24. gooya

If you use linux, you can find the password

  25. gooya

    dunno about windows

  26. Hiker

    Yes in linux, how to?

  27. gooya

    What distro

  28. Hiker

    ubuntu

  29. gooya

    Gnome keyring?

  30. gooya

I use fedora which has kde wallet

  31. gooya

I use fedora kde plasma which has kde wallet
