Hi. Thanks for promoting me from visitor to whatever it is that allows me to talk.

Quick question: I have a MUC where my fellow members can post using OMEMO. The same applies to my phone, where I use Conversations. However, on my laptop, where I use Gajim, I see the slot with the exclamation mark and my conversation partners say my messages show up in red (Conversations's way to indicate missing OMEMO). I'm using Gajim 1.8.0 on Linux, installed using flatpak. I *am* able to use OMEMO in private chats with Gajim. Gajim reports: "This is a public group chat. Encryption not available." Any hints on where I should be looking at to enable encryption? (I did a server reinstall a few days ago, which caused me to loose the complete server configration. Before that, I *was* able to use encryption in that MUC, even with Gajim.)

To use OMEMO in group chat, the room need to be: Non-anonymous: All members' addresses are visible to every occupant. And members-only.

If the room configuration was right before, then Conversations user are able to send encrypted messages even after the configuration changes.✎ -

But Gajim can not.

Gajim decide the OMEMO option by room configurations. But Conversations decide it by whether the user got an OMEMO keys from others in room.

☭Mike Yellow: > “used to”? Do you mean it does not work now? I rarely use Windows, but had verified it when I was working on the audio widget.

That is to say, in such a situation, Conversations can send private messages even the room configuration should not allow. So check the room configurations.

>I rarely use Windows, but had verified it when I was working on the audio widget. Hmmm... Then I guess my Windows 10 should have something installed, like something be used to detect m4a file.

Nevermind.

☭Mike Yellow: can check it on Sunday for you again.
