Hello ! I just came here to report a bug on Gajim ! I don't know if you already know about it but when writing a sentence with a semi-column ':', let's says "Here is how to achieve this : <the-guideline>". If inside <the-guideline> you write an emoji by looking it up, so you write ':la' for example to select the "laugh" emoji, when you select it, it deletes all your sentence until the previous semi-column. I hope I'm clear enough. Thanks for everything !

Consider adding play panel for “.m4a” file? That is a common audio recording file.
-
☭Mike Yellow
Mostly, it is an “.aac” audio file with an “.mp4” packaging.

Test successful?

☭Mike Yellow: m4a files sent from Conversations play fine for me with Gajim. What is the reported mime type for yours?

> ☭Mike Yellow: m4a files sent from Conversations play fine for me with Gajim. What is the reported mime type for yours? Then I guess it is because I am using Gajim on Microsoft Windows.

I just met a wired problem. I wantted to ask a question, but when i input the text and press Enter, the text disappear (it should append to the chat content panel).

> I just met a wired problem. I wantted to ask a question, but when i input the text and press Enter, the text disappear (it should append to the chat content panel). Your internet connection is not stable. I met such a situation before.
-
user
> Your internet connection is not stable. I met such a situation before. Ok, i guess this is the reason
-
☭Mike Yellow
Sometimes, unstable connection causes you can not change your availability status too.
-
user
but it's better to tell the user what's going on.
-
☭Mike Yellow
> Sometimes, unstable connection causes you can not change your availability status too. Like you can not go offline manually, but in fact you are not stably connected.
-
user
and because the inputted text is automatically delete after you press Enter, you will lost it.
-
☭Mike Yellow
Yes... I mentioned it here before.
-
Kris
Gajim could probably do a better job caching messages on unstable connection or so?
-
user
Now, i only do the editting in a text editor.
-
☭Mike Yellow
Press “Ctrl+C” before sending is also OK.
-
user
> Gajim could probably do a better job caching messages on unstable connection or so? May be add an area like "pedding messages"
-
user
these message are waitting to be send.

When you first time login with the "Advanced Settings" option checked, what values i should input to these input fields (hostname, port, type)?
-
user
I'm facing a terrible internet. I might be offline at anytime.

I can't access the wiki, because it redirect me to a gitlab site: dev.gajim.org which required Js to get the content. So if it's on the wiki, forgive me.

Thanks for everything ! I'm not able to reproduce this. The only thing I could find was doing ': :lau', then choosing the laugh emoji consumes both semicolons
-
fjklp
oh, I see now

test

fjklp
user: it's working, please don't test here
-
user
Sorry, I need to confirmed that the messages have sent.
-
user
i won't do that again.
-
fjklp
':text text text text text text :laugh' will consume everything back to the first semicolon. There must be no space between the first semicolon and the following text.
-
fjklp
user: you messages have posted
-
user
> user: you messages have posted Ok, thanks.
-
fjklp
I can make an issue for the semicolon emoji problem if you want

☭Mike Yellow: used to work for me too on Win 10

aquatarkus
hi, is voice/video chat supported on gajim?
-
ann
yes, but without DTLS/SRTP. so you can't call any modern XMPP client from Gajim.
-
ann
my bounty of 10000$ for implementation of DTLS/SRTP for A/V is still active.
-
ann
noone wants to implement it.
-
aquatarkus
I see, thanks
-
qy
Sorry, 10k US dollars?
-
qy
Are you serious
-
ann
yes
-
qy
Serious as day?
-
qy

-
ann
why are you asking?
-
ann
I'd mentioned it no less than 5 times in this conference
-
qy
Heck id let you <censored for sanity> me for 10k

Projjal
is there any way to get own avatar in gajim?
-
Projjal
for example, in ~/.cache/avatars I see 1000+ jpegs
-
Projjal
does it have mine? if yes, how do I know which one

Projjal: gajim does put your own avatar in ~/.cache/gajim/avatars but I don't think there's any easy way to find it
-
fjklp
setting a new avatar makes it easy to find since it will have a recent modification time, but that's probably not helpful
-
fjklp
if you know when you set your avatar, what would make it easy to find by modification time✎ -

Projjal: `sqlitebrowser ~/.cache/gajim/cache.db`, browse the table called 'contact', type your jid into the filter field at the top of the column called 'jid'. The name in the avatar column is the name of your avatar file contained in ~/.cache/gajim/avatars
-
Projjal
fjklp: yooo thanks, that worked! thanks for the quick reply too :)
-

I'm glad it helped
