  4. Link Mauve wurstsalat, I just tested the ^G dialog, I think the user can be lost when asked to enter an address, without more information.
  5. Link Mauve It might be nicer to hide that behind an advanced thingy, and to derivate it from the name the user gives.
  6. Link Mauve And otherwise generate it if the user doesn’t even provide a name.
  7. Link Mauve Also, I would expect to be able to choose who I’d invite in the created room.

  13. 16. Link Mauve hannibal, indeed, you can close as duplicate probably.
  17. dr.house Hello, when will your client get a modern look like Signal for example? Can you translate it to Electron?
  18. hannibal dr.house: modern look is on its way; why Electron, GTK provides everything

  20. lovetox Link Mauve, "edition" is a word but i think not the one you want
  21. lovetox maybe you searched for "correction"?
  22. lovetox or is edition a french word
  23. lovetox lets rewritte in electron :D
  24. lovetox of course after we rewrite everything in Qt
  25. Link Mauve lovetox, oh, thanks.
  26. stefan hello! i just installed the 1.2 beta, and i wondered how i can benefit from this:
  27. stefan "Some work has been done to get Audio/Video calls working again, however, this feature is highly experimental at the moment"
  28. stefan (windows 64 bit version).
  29. stefan It's really nice to have audio/video with ejabberd 20.04 and conversations. would be even better if it worked together with gajim!
  30. Link Mauve stefan, mostly not.
  31. Link Mauve Audio might work with very old clients such as Gajim 0.14~0.16, Pidgin, Psi or Empathy, but nothing more.
  32. Link Mauve I’ve had other projects going on which have prevented me from doing much further work on that end.
  33. stefan okay thank you. but can that sentence in you news-feed be understood that audio/video will be in gajim again sometime in the future?
  34. stefan so in the actual beta, there is no possibility to test it?
  35. Link Mauve If I have some time to work on it again, and I don’t get sidetracked into something else, maybe.
  36. Link Mauve I’m not targetting Conversations compatibility atm though, as I don’t have any Android device to test against.

  40. rom1dep passing by to say that I rather like the account badges/labels (much more than the thin coloured "buddy" icons)
  41. lovetox thanks for the feedback, yeah we recognized that only color is not enough
  42. rom1dep by the way, how does ordering work in e.g. the new chat window?
  43. rom1dep by insertion order in the accounts list?

  46. mightyBroccoli Can someone explain to me how to use the new websocket cap with the gajim beta?
  47. Link Mauve mightyBroccoli, have your server support XEP-0156, and be unable to connect over plain TCP.
  48. mightyBroccoli So I can not configure Gajim to always use it?
  49. mightyBroccoli reading the changelog I though websocket was added as a bosh / replacement in the configurable proxy menu.
  50. Link Mauve You probably can do that too.
  51. Link Mauve No idea how.

  53. wurstsalat Link Mauve: re ^G, thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a look as soon as I find the time
  54. kseniaalt Hello. I updated my distribution from Fedora 31 to Fedora 32 and changed from XFCE to LXQT. I use the same home directory. Gajim seems to want to use a different password manager. Previously I think it used GNOME's password manager. How can I recover my passwords? (I have all the dot files)
  55. kseniaalt test
  56. rom1dep kseniaalt: hi, I'm on f32, I use KDE, I didn't see any change of behaviour on that front when upgrading
  57. kseniaalt robertooo: I changed from LXDE to LXQT. I think that makes gajim use a different password manager.
  58. kseniaalt How can I recover my passwords from the GNOME password manager? (I think that is what it used before this upgrade)
  59. rom1dep kseniaalt: do you happen to have gnome-keyring and python3-keyring installed?
  60. rom1dep that's what I have here
  61. rom1dep (as well as libgnome-keyring and gnome-keyring-pam)
  62. kseniaalt robertooo: I do not have python3-keyring.
  63. kseniaalt When I opened Gajim the first time in this new install I got the message that it will use KDE wallet.
  64. kseniaalt How can I force gajim to use gnome-keyring?
  65. stefan hello, I have a problem with the new beta 1.2.0 - I tried to do a install on windows 64 bit, formerly installed 1.1.3 was uninstalled. a first start is succesful, then plugin updates are loaded. the second start does not work anymore then. I restored my %appdata% folder, but it happens every time i try. what can i do ?
  66. rom1dep kseniaalt: I wouldn't know how to swap the password storing backend without patching the code, but perhaps you could use seahorse or similar to retrieve any password that might have been saved there
  67. rom1dep (and then feed that to kdewallet)
  68. rom1dep stefan: can you run it in debug mode? Maybe having the logs could bring up something interesting
  69. kseniaalt robertooo: Apparently seahorse only interacts with GPG keys.
  70. kseniaalt How do I retrieve the passwords using seahorse?
  71. rom1dep kseniaalt: it does show me the saved passwords for keyring
  72. rom1dep make sure the packages I've listed above are installed and restart seahorse
  73. rom1dep maybe check too that you have a gnome-keyring-daemon runnig
  74. rom1dep maybe check too that you have a gnome-keyring-daemon running
  75. kseniaalt Ok.
  76. lovetox kseniaalt, its possible to switch the backend in Gajim, but you should first look in the debug logs right at the start
  77. lovetox Gajim prints all keyring backends and its priority
  78. lovetox use gajim -v
  79. lovetox so we see that gnome keyring is recognized as backend
  80. lovetox stefan, try to start gajim-debug.exe from the cmd terminal
  81. lovetox and show us the output
  82. lovetox other solution would be to delete the plugins under %appdata%/gajim/plugins
  83. stefan ok, i have the debug log. should i paste it to pastes go here?
  84. stefan I only wanted to keep my omemo keys for the device, i hope that works. I try to delete the plugins folder.
  85. stefan lovetox, thx. removing the plugins folder (before the first start of gajim 1.2.) did the job. seems to work now.
  86. lovetox yeah but would be nice to know which plugin caused the problem
  87. lovetox can you paste me the debug log?
  88. stefan is there any information i should remove in the log?
  89. lovetox not if it crashed right at the start
  90. lovetox but you can send it to me in private
  91. lovetox we dont print passwords or that stuff if thats your question
  92. lovetox but your jid will be in the log
  93. lovetox and the jid of your contacts
  94. lovetox but only if gajim connected
  95. lovetox if you see a traceback
  96. lovetox you can only paste me that

  118. Aran this problem is happening on plain text messages as well
  119. Aran I can see that gajim is aware that the correct number of messages exist in the archive (591)
  120. Aran but yet after it syncs those 591 messages, there are just a few messages shown in my chat windows and no more found in history windows
  121. Aran every message is getting into the archive perfectly

  124. Aran so they're all getting into the archive on the server, and when I nuke my local gajim log.db and resync all the history it says its synched the correct number that are in the archive, but they just don't show up anywhere
  125. Aran just a very small fraction of them do
  126. lovetox encrypted messges are downloaded
  127. lovetox but cant be decrypted again
  128. lovetox so this count will always be wrong
  129. Aran this problem is applying to plain text messages
  130. Aran I can see them get into the archive on the server, but I never see most of them again even when resyncing the history and it saying it successfully synched them all
  131. Aran we have deliberately avoided complicated the issue with encryption while we try and figure out whats happening
  132. lovetox then you have to provide debug logs
  133. lovetox delete the logs.db
  134. lovetox start gajim with -v
  135. lovetox and provide the logs
  136. Aran ok cool thanks, shall I add the log to the issue?
  137. lovetox no this is not the correct issue
  138. lovetox this was a user that did use an unsupported mam version
  139. Aran 9597?
  140. lovetox which is not the case for you as history sync seems to work
  141. Aran oh ok
  142. lovetox just send me the debug log in private here
  143. Aran ok will do thanks :-)
  144. lovetox or at philipp@hoerist.com
  145. Aran 👍
  146. Aran looking at the log output for a single plain text message imported from the arhive, there's a lot of OMEMO information even though the message is not encrypted....
