Gajim - 2020-01-25

  1. debacle When a MUC is "gone" and the room has a nice hint, where it went, this text is currently not selectable, i.e. copy/paste of the text is not possible. Should! E.g. when text contains the very long and complicated name of the new MUC.
  2. debacle (gajim git master)
  3. wurstsalat debacle: good point
  4. Eduard I have found that keybinds like CTRL + AV/RE Pag doesn't work with current git version.
  5. lovetox no not good point
  6. lovetox when you close a muc you can add a new address
  7. lovetox there is a dedicated field
  8. lovetox and Gajim follows that address automatically
  9. lovetox when someone puts it into the description he did something wrong
  10. lovetox wurstsalat, debacle
  11. lovetox Eduard, yes its now ALT + Arrow
  12. lovetox Ctrl + UP/Down, does cycle through your last messages
  13. anotheragency Why not PgUP PgDown
  14. lovetox you have tothink that you want to use these shortcuts when you have focused a chat
  15. lovetox that means you have the message input focused where you write text
  16. lovetox now pgup/dwn, is normally used to scroll that textview
  17. lovetox CTRL + pgup/dwn, is already used for switch to the next tab that has new messages
  18. wurstsalat lovetox: but making the description selectable seems to be helpful anyway?
  19. lovetox yeah why not
  20. asterix lovetox: gitlab.com access enabled
  21. lovetox Marzanna, ^
  22. debacle lovetox OK, the example with the new room might not be the best one. Still, the text might be something I like to copy and paste, whatever it is.
  23. debacle And also MUC admins make errors and put the room name in the description by accident instead of the correct field. But imagine there is a good joke in the description you really want to pass to somebody else.
  24. debacle lovetox, about the 'none' error yesterday: Of course, since I have the print() in place, it didn't occur anymore :-)
  25. debacle heisenbugs everywhere
  26. Eduard lovetox, thanks.
  27. raghavgururajan Hello Gajim!
  28. raghavgururajan Folks! I dont see preferences in the menu in gnome. Was something changed in recent versions?
  29. wurstsalat raghavgururajan: most likely your system changed
  30. wurstsalat raghavgururajan: which os version are you using?
  31. raghavgururajan guix system
  32. raghavgururajan Is there a shortcut key to open preferences window?
  33. wurstsalat raghavgururajan: Ctrl+P

  38. allie lovetox: question! am I correct that there's no way to override the notebook-tab-label width in a user's local configuration directory? it can only be done system-wide?

  40. wurstsalat allie: maybe it is possible by changing the corresponding values in gajim.css
  41. allie wurstsalat: I can change the values in gajim.css, but it's the system-wide one. I think lovetox said a while back that you can only override certain settings per-user
  42. lovetox you can try the following
  43. lovetox go to preference, add a new theme, add some setting
  44. lovetox this should add a theme.css file in .local/share/gajim/themes
  45. lovetox put the css in there
  46. lovetox then activate the theme
  47. allie okay, I'll give that a shot. thanks!
  48. bronko The Starting Point links in the python-nbxmpp wiki are dead, they should go to dev.gajim.org instead of gitlab.gajim.org (https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/python-nbxmpp/-/wikis/home)
  49. bronko how can i set the nbxmpp loglevel when using launch.py? '-l nbxmpp.*=DEBUG' did not work for me
  50. lovetox -l .nbxmpp=DEBUG
  51. lovetox if you want to debug nbxmpp
  52. lovetox oterwise just -bv
  53. lovetox oterwise just -v
  54. lovetox bronko,
  55. bronko lovetox, that works, thank you, i was missing the '.'

  62. debacle lovetox, I got the 'none' error again. It's in MUC xmpp:tigase@muc.tigase.org?join
  63. debacle Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gajim/gtk/groupchat_roster.py", line 357, in _tree_compare_iters group2_index = AffiliationRoleSortOrder[group2] KeyError: 'none'
  64. debacle where are the bookmarks in Gajim master?
  65. wurstsalat debacle: accounts menu > your account menu item > advanced > manage bookmarks
  66. wurstsalat bronko: I updated the wiki links you mentioned, thanks!
  67. debacle wurstsalat, thanks! Well hidden, but better UI - when found :-)
  68. wurstsalat debacle: it's intended to be well-hidden, because you shouldn't need it
  69. allie wurstsalat: why should you not need it?
  70. wurstsalat you can join your bookmarked group chats using Start Chat (Ctrl+N)
  71. debacle wurstsalat, but you cannot select your nick via ^n, right?
  72. debacle you would first join using your default nick and only then you can change it?
  73. debacle did I already post this one? probably not...
