Gajim - 2020-01-13

  1. djx Is it possible to change the way gajim shows tabs?
  2. djx (multiple conversations)
  3. wurstsalat guybrush88: right, thanks!
  4. wurstsalat djx: you can choose which side these tabs should be displayed at (top, bottom, left, right)
  5. djx wurstsalat, can you point me to where to do so? :)
  6. wurstsalat I think preferences has a setting for that in one of the first pages (tabs position)
  7. djx Ok, thanks.

  17. lovetox i have to run my userdelete script again
  18. lovetox insane how many spammers register
  19. lovetox 10 spammers registered just today
  20. wurstsalat I wonder who's falling for stuff like that on a gitlab instance
  21. elfchen Residents of Ontario? 😉
  22. debacle Very vague idea, which might evolve into a feature request eventually:
  23. debacle Show all recent messages from different contacts in one window/tab.
  24. debacle I.e. the window or tab looks like a normal conversation or a group conversation, but I can see all my recent conversations with different contacts (all? selected? not sure!)
  25. debacle When I click on one conversation, the regular conversation tab opens.
  26. debacle Maybe there is an icon per conversation, that allows me to dismiss that conversation from the tab (a. until there is a new message, b. until added manually again)?
  27. wurstsalat debacle: sounds a bit like lovetox messagewindow branch to me ;) at least the conversation displaying approach (not displaying all the messages in a single tab though)
  28. debacle wurstsalat, screenshot?
  29. wurstsalat in an early stage (and already very old) https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/uploads/cac4d9bc638fcfd3d53c3ea266befcde/38f50ad9-743a-491e-9b62-cf329ccc7c3b.png
  30. wurstsalat debacle: ^
  31. debacle wurstsalat, hm, I don't see anything related to my idea :-)
  32. wurstsalat hm okay then I probably misunderstood what you imagine. the approach shown in the screenshot would be filtering away one layer of what you want to see in a single window, I guess? I'm not sure if it is a good idea to show *all* messages in one view. what do you gain from that?
  33. debacle it is about all private messages only, which I receive not that many (you could ask my friends about how few messages I receive, if I had any friends)
  34. wurstsalat > When I click on one conversation, the regular conversation tab opens you mean click one message?
  35. debacle I meant inside this "meta-conversation-window". It's probably hard to describe without a mock-up.
  36. debacle Unfortunatly, I'm very bad at mockups. Takes me hours for a really bad one.
  37. marc0s if I understood it correctly, it would be like the `All Unreads` entry of slack's?
  38. debacle marc0s, I never used Slack, no idea, but "all unreads" sounds right
  39. marc0s basically it's a meta view of whatever messages you have still not read (viewed, focused, whatever), all of them in a single place (a tab in gajim would be the place, I suppose)
  40. marc0s maybe some English-native speaker who used Slack can summarize it better than me 🙂
  41. marc0s gotta say that comes in handy for catching up when coming back from afk, or offline
  42. debacle marc0s, yes, that's what I meant. Slack understands me, before I ever used it :-)
  43. marc0s 🙂
