Gajim - 2019-11-26

  1. concerto o/
  2. concerto I'm running Gajim nightly on KDE, how can I enable the dark theme? Setting "Dark theme" to "enabled" didn't change anything o_O
  3. concerto wurstsalat: my English is decent, I think, and I've done some spelling and grammar PRs in the past - I can help do the evaluation you speak of. Where would I start?
  4. wurstsalat concerto, running nightly is a good start for that! I already changed a lot of strings in master. checking the text gajim presents to you in day to day use would be a helpful :)
  5. wurstsalat concerto, running nightly is a good start for that! I already changed a lot of strings in master. checking the text gajim presents to you in day to day use would be helpful :)
  6. wurstsalat concerto, does your theme have a dark version?
  7. concerto wurstsalat: do you mean the global KDE theme, or Gajim's own theme? In Gajim I'm using 'default'
  8. wurstsalat concerto, the global one
  9. wurstsalat gajim follows the global one by default
  10. concerto I am using the KDE Breeze Dark theme
  11. concerto Let me see if switching Gajim's "Dark theme" to 'system' helps
  12. concerto (Do I need to restart Gajim for themes to change?)
  13. wurstsalat no
  14. wurstsalat concerto, you can also try this live by using GTK inspector (Ctrl+Shift+I)
  15. concerto wurstsalat: then, there's no change :(
  16. wurstsalat for me it works (at least partly), and I do use KDE (Breeze) as well
  17. concerto Neither Default + System nor Default + Enabled are doing anything
  18. concerto huh ._.

  21. concerto wurstsalat: there are some packages which translate themes from Qt to GTK and vice versa, right? Could it be that you have one of those, and I donn't?
  22. concerto wurstsalat: there are some packages which translate themes from Qt to GTK and vice versa, right? Could it be that you have one of those, and I don't?
  23. wurstsalat concerto, nothing specific, I use Adwaita for GTK3 apps
  24. concerto wurstsalat: how do you set themes for GTK apps?
  25. concerto wurstsalat: how do you set themes for GTK apps from KDE?
  26. wurstsalat roughly translating here: preferences > application style > GNOME/GTK application style > GTK3 design
  27. concerto wurstsalat: set it to Adwaita Dark, still no change in Gajim (or do I need to restart KDE?)
  28. wurstsalat concerto, restarting gajim is sufficient for me
  29. concerto wurstsalat: Thanks a lot, that did the trick :)
  30. wurstsalat note that changing the value inside gajim should not need a restart of gajim
  31. rambazamba concerto: In Plasma 5.18 the theme config for Qt and GTK apps will be merged in the systemsettings and hence both always be unified afaik. :)
  32. concerto rambazamba: nice

  34. solen is reporting a bug. https://paste.gajim.org/view/a5600096
  35. wurstsalat solen, let me check if this is fixed in Gajim 1.1
  36. wurstsalat solen, this is not fixed for URL Image Preview in Gajim 1.1 (in current master it is fixed). To avoid this, go to Gajim > Plugins > URL Image Preview > Settings > Leftclick action and set that so something different than "Save as"
  37. wurstsalat we should fix this for 1.1 branch as well
  38. solen wurstsalat, thx
  39. schongo hey folks! I have a problem with my messaging history: Was trying to archive all the messages exchanged with one person, then realized I was running a version of gajim from the stone ages, so updated to current version. We used omemo on several devices. Now huge parts of our messagin history are encrypted and can't be decrypted. Any way to gain access again? Thanks for any help!
  40. wurstsalat schongo, so you did not backup your history before upgrading gajim?
  41. schongo I did backup, but it was not complete the way I did it was via the instructions on: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/wikis/help/DatabaseBackup
  42. wurstsalat schongo, how was it not complete?
  43. schongo wurstsalat, I had been using Gajim 0.16.8, possibly had to do with the old version messages sent from my mobile device, or generally messages sent while my gajim was not running, I think, got lost in the history
  44. bot Daniel Brötzmann proposed a new merge request for _gajim-plugins/gajim_1.1_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/merge_requests/154 >: [preview] Fix on_save_as_menuitem_activate

  46. wurstsalat schongo, backup instructions from the wiki are version-independent and should work in all cases. so for you it's not about archiving (which failed somehow before you did the update), but about viewing the old history in the new gajim version's history viewer?
  47. schongo yes, I have access to the old history via the server (blah.im) but part of it is encrypted I want to be able to view and archive the old history
  48. schongo if my understanding is correct
  49. schongo for the person I exchanged messages with, there are three fingerprints available, one from me, two from them, all trusted, but one of theirs is "inactive"
  50. wurstsalat schongo, upgrading from 0.16 to 1.x should leave your history intact and viewable. is this about messages you already have in your history (these should be stored decrypted) or is this about fetching history from the server which was not in your local history before?
  51. schongo second case: fetching history from server which was not in local history before
  52. wurstsalat schongo, then it is probably that some of the contacts changed devices over time, and for these devices you do not have the key
  53. schongo yes, I see is it possible to solve that issue?
  54. wurstsalat I don't think so, but maybe I'm wrong
  55. schongo ok, probably not the right place to ask, but: I have access to all the messages on my mobile phone - conversations is what I'm using any way to archive those?
  56. Wiktor schongo: Conversations has history export feature
  57. schongo wow, nice! excuse my mental thickness, I'm a bit confused right now couldn't find that feature trying to save messages after a breakup, so bear with me... ;)
  58. schongo Wiktor: can you point me to that feature?
  59. Wiktor Just let it go! ;) could you ask this question in Conversations room? I've got trouble finding the plaintext thing on mobile
  60. Wiktor Settings has create backup in settings
  61. Wiktor Okay got it: https://github.com/iNPUTmice/ceb2txt
  62. schongo thank you so much!
  63. Wiktor 👍 No problem. Take care!
  64. asterix wurstsalat: if you see the guy that has pootle with auto-translation, could you ask him to update the french translation of the website, I'll review it
  65. wurstsalat asterix, yes, that was antoniomorais360
