Gajim - 2019-11-23

  1. mrdoctorwho Yay congratulations with the new website
  2. mrdoctorwho I'm really glad that gajim keeps evolving
  3. concerto Suggestion - if a user presses C-n (Start new conversation), types something, and then hits the global MUC search button...reuse the search string they just typed and start the search.
  4. concerto Suggestion - if a user presses C-n (Start new conversation), types something, and then hits the global MUC search button...reuse the search string they just typed and start the search, instead of clearing it.
  5. wurstsalat mrdoctorwho: thanks! :)
  6. concerto Oh, nice new website 😀
  7. wurstsalat Hm I wonder how many users are running 32 bit windows? I'd like to reduce the instantly visible download choices in the download dropdown.
  8. lovetox why its only 4
  9. lovetox i think this is ok
  10. lovetox for macOS we could place a link to the wiki
  11. wurstsalat lovetox: because many distros on the linux side are phasing out 32 bit (don't know how many windows users are on 32 bit), and these are rather technical terms for the user
  12. lovetox ok but there is no way around it, Windows users have to know that stuff
  13. lovetox also for a windows 64 bit user, it does not matter which version he installs
  14. lovetox all will work
  15. lovetox i think windows 10 is only available in 64bit, but windows 7 not
  16. wurstsalat Okay, maybe I can highlight the recommended download better then.
  17. lovetox but why is one recommended?
  18. lovetox they are all equal, its not better or worse
  19. lovetox you just have to select the one for your system
  20. bot Philipp Hörist proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/merge_requests/542 >: Add Gtk.Assistant for Remove dialog

  22. wurstsalat lovetox: hm I just want to highlight the relevant download for most users (and I guess this would be x64 (non portable). Ah we could ask asterix for download stats :)
  23. Link Mauve lovetox, no, Windows 10 is still sold and advertised as 32-bit too.
  24. Link Mauve wurstsalat, download stats can be heavily biaised.
  25. Link Mauve https://de.dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/05/19/obituary-32bit/ might be interesting to understand the problem.
  26. Link Mauve Note that this article is from five years ago, but being an emulator requiring a somewhat powerful CPU it also skewed results towards more 64-bit.
  27. wurstsalat Link Mauve: thanks that sounds interesting, need to read that later! :)
  28. wurstsalat https://lagaule.org/cgi-bin/awstats.pl?month=10&year=2019&output=downloads&config=gajim&lang=en&framename=index
  29. Link Mauve Woah, some people download it for the Alpha architecture?
  30. Link Mauve Also… 0.1?
  31. Link Mauve 0.7?!
  32. Link Mauve Are those bots?
  33. Link Mauve Do these binaries work on any modern Debian, or are they just cruft?
  34. Link Mauve Where is the Windows download?
  35. lovetox yeah its not on there
  36. lovetox and im pretty sure nobody downloads gajim 0.4
  37. Link Mauve Providing installers for pygtk also doesn’t sound very sensible nowadays.
  38. lovetox its for the windows vm that builds the installer
  39. Link Mauve The istaller is still GTK+ 2.x?
  40. lovetox yeah we did this for 0.16 builds
  41. lovetox now we use MSYS2 env on the build server
  42. wurstsalat Windows exe downloads are further down on that site
  43. Link Mauve You mean not in October nor in September?
  44. lovetox there is no exe in there
  45. lovetox and if and its in the 1-4 hit range
  46. lovetox its wrong, because i download the exe every second day alone
  47. lovetox although from the snap folder

  60. aiti Is there an option in gajim to turn off status spam in group chats? e.g. ‎‎ has left due to an error ‎ ‎‎‎ has left (Kicked: recipient unavailable) has joined the group chat
  61. wurstsalat aiti, yes, in the group chat > chat settings > show join/leave
  62. lovetox depending on the version you use
  63. wurstsalat this is also accessable via preferences
  64. aiti Oh, awesome
  65. aiti thank you
  66. aiti 1.1.3 fwiw
  67. UsL works here on 0.16.6 as well. I'd like one for nick change spam as well though.
  68. lovetox hm actually just kick the person from the MUC then
  69. lovetox there is no reason to change your nick often
  70. UsL If I could I would : )
  71. bot Philipp Hörist updated a merge request for _gajim/master_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/merge_requests/542 >: Add Gtk.Assistant for Remove dialog
  72. aiti wurstsalat, I don't see the option in the general gajim prefs. For specific group chats, I assume you're tlaking about in the Bookmarks manager, the Status Messages dropdown?
  73. aiti wurstsalat, I don't see the option in the general gajim prefs. For specific group chats, I assume you're talking about in the Bookmarks manager, the Status Messages dropdown?
  74. wurstsalat aiti, yes, that could be it
  75. aiti Welp, guess we'll find out ^_^
  76. lovetox aiti there should also be a global option in advanced config manager
  77. lovetox something with muc_status
  78. aiti Aah, in the advanced, awesome
  79. lovetox the one for bookmarks you have to set for every bookmark
  80. aiti print_status_in_chats maybe?
  81. aiti oh, probably print_status_in_muc
  82. aiti i am so good at reading the words with my eyeballs /s
