Gajim - 2019-10-29

  1. marmistrz lovetox, what is the state of my trust PR?
  2. marmistrz (please mention me when you reply)
  3. marmistrz Ah, I've just realized that you answered that before, just without mentioning. Will you take care of the merge conflicts then?
  4. bot Sebastiaan Lokhorst modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9713 >: #9713: < Create a standalone macOS .app using PyInstaller >
  5. elfchen I don't quite get the closed Homebrew PR. Wasn't the only problem that it had been created for homebrew-core instead of homebrew-cask?
  6. slokhorst elfchen‎: yes, they are no longer accepting GUI-only apps (without a CLI interface or library) in homebrew-core
  7. slokhorst the problem with homebrew-cask is that we have to provide a self-contained .app, which now is working quite ok, but with a unreleased version of pyinstaller
  8. slokhorst the app also isn't notarized yet (requires an Apple Developer account and $), which causes a bunch of warnings on first launch
  9. wurstsalat slokhorst, of how many $ are we speaking? just curious
  10. Zash Is it still $99 per year? And then there's the cost of the required hardware.
  11. slokhorst yeah, I believe it is USD 99 per year https://developer.apple.com/support/compare-memberships/
  12. slokhorst I'm not sure, I'm not an experienced Apple developer either
  13. slokhorst here it has more information about the app signing: https://developer.apple.com/developer-id/
  14. elfchen slokhorst: I see. Thanks
  15. elfchen Very disappointing policy on few waivers: https://developer.apple.com/support/membership-fee-waiver/ 😒
  16. elfchen Very disappointing policy on fee waivers: https://developer.apple.com/support/membership-fee-waiver/ 😒
  17. lovetox i can live with the warnings
  18. lovetox i guess mac users will learn fast how to deal with them now, because i think not every app developer will do that
  19. Zash you may be underestimating apple users and devs
  20. Zash or over-? whatever. apple is special.
  21. lovetox no i dont think every dev from every little open source project, will pay 100 € a year just to have no warning popup
  22. lovetox either they dont publish for mac anymore, or they say: live with the warning
  23. lovetox having a working installer that can be easily installed on mac would be big step forward for gajim, the warning popup is really a minor detail here :)
  24. wurstsalat > having a working installer that can be easily installed on mac would be big step forward for gajim indeed
  25. saltybones man...switching to master reminds me how terrible the key management for omemo is
  26. saltybones lovetox, this might be a theme thing but for me the difference between the selected tab and other tabs is very subtle
  27. saltybones is that intentional?
  28. lovetox probably a theme thing, for me the selected tab has a blue stripe in front
  29. wurstsalat saltybones, definitively a theme issue. using gtk inspector you can try and change your theme for gajim directly
  30. saltybones hm...do we want to make sure this looks nice on common distros?
  31. saltybones this is vanilla ubuntu after all...
  32. wurstsalat saltybones: show us some screenshots :)

  34. wurstsalat Well, it's darker when active
  35. wurstsalat How it this theme called?
  36. lovetox thats how tabs look on your theme, you can try and set tabs position to the right
  37. lovetox maybe you get the stripe then
  38. lovetox or left
  39. bot SaltyBones created an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9875 >: #9875: < Pasting an image could prepare a message instead of sending immediately >
  40. saltybones wurstsalat, lovetox I don't know the answer to either of those questions. I only installed Ubuntu. ;)
  41. lovetox i didnt ask a question
  42. lovetox but ok
  43. saltybones fair enough :)
  44. lovetox still i would recommend to set the tabs position to the side
  45. saltybones I guess my answer is: I think requiring changes is not great UX.
  46. lovetox top is just awful and not much space for conversations
  47. saltybones Yeah, I'm also not even sure if it's required.
  48. saltybones I vaguely remember talking to you about a simplified roster sorted by recent conversations or something and using that instead of tabs...am I misremembering?

  50. lovetox im not short on idea how this could be better
  51. lovetox there is a issue with all the things we want to make better
  52. saltybones indeed

  56. saltybones Oh?
  57. saltybones I thought that was intentional?
  58. saltybones Oh, only for zeroconf because you cannot send to own devices?
  59. lovetox there are no other devices in zeroconf
