Gajim - 2019-10-11

  1. djx I'm using Gajim on windows, and i notice duplicated messages in MUCs when the network gets disconnected and reconnects. Is this a known issue?
  2. wurstsalat djx: which version?

  5. djx @wurstsalat latest, 1.1.3
  6. wurstsalat djx, do you have logs?
  7. djx I'm sure they exist somewhere :) I'm sure a fine client like gajim stores them ;)
  8. djx Can you tell me where to find them? :D
  9. wurstsalat they aren't stored if you didn't tell gajim before (there is a debug switch in preferences). but you can also open the XML console (Accounts > Advanced > XML console), activate it, and then join the MUC to (hopefully) gather relevant logs
  10. asterix Yes sorry, I tried to disable it for PM, seems I failed ... Yes I don't knoe how to map that ...
  11. djx Thanks. I'll turn that on and try to collect logs for next time

  13. gerald so if i right-click on myself in the contact list to get "information", i see "Client" and "System" as unknown, although I've activated the Client/OS information in the privacy settings of my account
  14. wurstsalat gerald, yes, same for me
  15. wurstsalat but: if you have other devices, infos about these devices are shown correctly
  16. wurstsalat I guess you know your own Time, OS, and client? ;)
  17. bot Daniel Brötzmann updated a merge request for _gajim/master_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/merge_requests/402 >: Rework contact info
  18. wurstsalat this MR just hides these fields for oneself ^
  19. mopp wurstsalat: yes, my other clients are shown correctly.
  20. mopp Oops, not gerald, but we had talked about this, too :)

  23. pvoigt Due to some smaller issues in Debian Buster shipped Gajim 1.1.2 I am thinking about building Gajim 1.1.3 from source (https://gajim.org/downloads/1.1/gajim-1.1.3.tar.bz2) under Debian Buster. Could anybody please tell me, if 1.1.3 builds just fine under Debian Buster?

  25. wurstsalat pvoigt, no need to build. you can just run from launch.py and you should be fine in buster
  26. pvoigt wurstsalat, hm, never heard about launch.py. Could you please give one more sentence of explanation?
  27. wurstsalat pvoigt, extract the archive, in the root folder, there is launch.py, start it with python ./launch.py
  28. wurstsalat if that works, you can install it like described in the wiki
  29. wurstsalat ./setup.py install --root=/
  30. pvoigt wurstsalat, OK thanks, it's long ago that I've installed from Python source. But here in the Wiki https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/wikis/home I cannot find the instructions you mentioned. Suppose I am blind at the moment. ;-)
  31. hannibal pvoigt: check Readme.md
  32. lovetox wurstsalat, its better to install it otherwise you will have no translations
  33. lovetox also its easy, see Readme
  34. pvoigt hannibal, yep, thanks: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/blob/master/README.md help a bit. What does --root=/ mean in this context?
  35. pvoigt hannibal, yep, thanks: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/blob/master/README.md helps a bit. What does --root=/ mean in this context?
  36. pvoigt More specific: Where does "./setup.py --root=/ install" install Gajim?
  37. pvoigt Played with setup.py and the --root question is solved.
  38. lovetox and what is the answer pvoigt
  39. pvoigt Installation of all files relative to the path value given with option --root=
  40. pvoigt Well, I am online with Gajim 1.1.3, seems to have been that easy - hope everything works.
  41. pvoigt On my system almost everything is installed after build to /usr/local/lib/python3.7/dist-packages/, some icons went to /usr/local/share/icons/hicolor.

  43. operand Hi, I'm running Gajim on arch and recently Gajim has been EXTREMELY slow in fetching history from my orgs prosody server
  44. operand Using 100% CPU the whole time
  45. operand Whereas it used to fetch day's worth of history in a couple of seconds, it'll take many minutes now and lock up my laptop
  46. asterix wurstsalat: > hi asterix! what's blocking us from switching to the new website? The de bug ?
  47. lovetox operand, what Gajim version?
  48. operand 1.1.3-1
  49. Eduard Is there a ETA of the 1.1.4 Gajim release?
  50. lovetox i dont think we will do a 1.1.4
  51. lovetox operand, hm hard to say, could be a database problem
  52. lovetox are you in for some testing? like deleting the database and seeing if the issue is still there?
  53. lovetox or maybe look first how big your logs.db is
  54. operand Alright, I'll look at it
  55. operand Where can I find it?
  56. lovetox linux?
  57. lovetox ~/.local/share/gajim
  58. lovetox just rename it or delete it while gajim is closed
  59. lovetox then start gajim
  60. operand Alright, I'll look into it when I have a moment
  61. operand Got some important discussions atm so I can't really close it
  62. lovetox yeah im going to sleep anyway
