  1. aversapars@xmpp.jp hi there
  2. aversapars@xmpp.jp is ist a possibe to change dimension of tabs in chat?
  3. aversapars@xmpp.jp in order to make long nickname fully readable insead of contraction
  4. aversapars@xmpp.jp https://www.xmpp.jp/upload/ad361709a6e8a1156c8818c0119c296b0f589ee8/Le9JsVs1bswzzBHHztyPaqKHNKGRWTy1bDFN2MeL/ApplicationFrameHost_HmivfW1Vwf.png
  5. andrey.g aversapars@xmpp.jp, you could adjust it using css as follows: notebook label { min-width: 150px; }
  6. aversapars@xmpp.jp Andrey, thank you very much. How can I do that? Preference-Advanced - Open Advanced Configuration Editor?
  7. andrey.g e.g. using embedded GTK Inspector https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GTK/Inspector
  8. andrey.g Once you've experimentally found the best value (changes applied immediately), you can add this to the gajim's style file, e.g.: /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gajim/data/style/default.css /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gajim/data/style/gajim.css
  9. aversapars@xmpp.jp Andrey thank you very very much for helping me out... In a portable version of Gajim the path will be the same?
  10. aversapars@xmpp.jp Regards!
  11. andrey.g Actually it would be better to copy the file for the theme you're using into "theme" directory in the profile directory, then modify it and perhaps rename. Then it should appear in Preferences -> Style -> Themes. But never tried. And I don't know where those files reside in a portable windows version.
  12. aversapars@xmpp.jp https://prnt.sc/p99xw0
  13. aversapars@xmpp.jp I don't see any .css file on my windows 10 .conf .ini and other...
  14. aversapars@xmpp.jp sorry. I've found 2 .css files in a folder called: "themes"
  15. aversapars@xmpp.jp gtk-keys.css
  16. andrey.g They should be in "lib/python3.7/site-packages/gajim/data/style/".
  17. aversapars@xmpp.jp Gajim\lib
  18. aversapars@xmpp.jp > ‎[4:50:06 AM] ‎andrey.g‎: They should be in "lib/python3.7/site-packages/gajim/data/style/". Andrey thank you very much! I found this path!
  19. aversapars@xmpp.jp Andrey this is what I have done in a file called default.css
  20. aversapars@xmpp.jp https://prnt.sc/p9a251
  21. aversapars@xmpp.jp But I don't see any changes. Guys please sorry for inconvenience, I am noob in this questions. Kind regards
  22. aversapars@xmpp.jp One more question, please. https://prnt.sc/p9a3r0 how to make this icon bigger? In my screen i see them very small... Is it a possible?

  26. aversapars@xmpp.jp I have solved this problem by tis method!!!
  27. aversapars@xmpp.jp https://prnt.sc/p9a3r0 how to make this icon bigger? In my screen i see them very small... Is it a possible?
  28. aversapars@xmpp.jp how to change lock image size?
  29. lovetox you cant
  30. lovetox thats a standard 16x16 icon
  31. EmleyMoor Carbons (XEP-0280) is one of the extensions I try to make sure all my clients software has, but what's the other one Gajim has that goes somewhat hand-in-hand with it?
  32. EmleyMoor Ah, MAM (XEP-0313)

  42. pvoigt Hm, after the today upgrade of gajim-default-nightly I can no longer see any of the members of an MUC. Is there a new config option or is this a (known) issue?
  43. lovetox pvoigt, in every muc?
  44. lovetox are you meaning the affiliation "member"
  45. lovetox ?
  46. lovetox or are you saying you dont see anyone joined the muc
  47. pvoigt lovetox, yes, in every muc I cannot see anyone who joined the muc.
  48. lovetox did you update nbxmpp?
  49. lovetox do you see errors in the console?
  50. pvoigt Just a second...
  51. pvoigt # dpkg -l |grep nbxmpp ii python3-nbxmpp-nightly 20190922-1 all Non blocking XMPP Python library
  52. pvoigt Repeatedly very often I see: SystemError: gi.FunctionInfo(init) returned NULL without setting an error 09/22/2019 14:20:51 (E) gajim.c.ged Error while running an event handler: <bound method GroupchatControl._on_user_joined of <gajim.groupchat_control.GroupchatControl object at 0x7f55d2fd7e10>>
  53. lovetox yeah whats the error?
  54. lovetox there must be more than this
  55. pvoigt of course, wanted to clariy before making too much noise. I wil pastebin...
  56. pvoigt of course, wanted to clarify before making too much noise. I wil pastebin...
  57. pvoigt http://paste.debian.net/1102000/
  58. lovetox hmm
  59. pvoigt Strange, here is a screenshot of this muc:
  60. pvoigt https://upload.jabber.drpetervoigt.de:5281/upload/vtOtjWasOVmNui33/Screenshot%20from%202019-09-22%2014-33-01.png
  61. lovetox yeah i know, on your system it seems there is something different so it does not support setting the avatar in the way i did
  62. lovetox can you try something
  63. lovetox open the file groupchat_roster.ui
  64. lovetox in line 8 set the type to "CairoSurface"
  65. lovetox then restart and see if that works
  66. pvoigt lovetox, where can I find the file "groupchat_roster.ui"?
  67. lovetox in the folder where you installed gajim
  68. lovetox use your system search
  69. pvoigt Ah, OK, a system file, just wait...
  70. pvoigt Found, changed, restarting now...
  71. pvoigt That didn't help, seems to look like before.
  72. pvoigt My system is Debian Buster 10.1.
  73. pvoigt Here is a full version information, hopefully useful:
  74. pvoigt https://upload.jabber.drpetervoigt.de:5281/upload/SOqoW-qqhWbl6jjA/Screenshot%20from%202019-09-22%2014-45-31.png
  75. pvoigt I am having exactly the same issue on two Buster 10.1 machines.
  76. lovetox pvoigt could you try and install pygobject (3.34.0-1) from debian testing?
  77. lovetox and change the file back to what it was
  78. lovetox it was CairoGObjectSurface if you dont remember
  79. pvoigt Ups, from testing. I usually avoid packages from testing, I am worried to break my installation. Do you see any other chance to narrow down this issue?
  80. asterix daily packages are supposed to be used in testing, not stable
  81. lovetox no pvoigt we have to track the problem down
  82. lovetox i dont see how that would break any of your packages
  83. pvoigt OK, give me some minutes, I prepare my apt sources and see, if pygobject (3.34.0-1) from debian testing can be solely upgraded without pulling in ANY depending packages.
  84. pvoigt OK, I have installed python-gobject 3.34 from Debian testing: # dpkg -l |grep python-gobject ii python-gobject 3.34.0-1 all Python 2.x bindings for GObject - transitional package ii python-gobject-2 2.28.6-13+b1 amd64 deprecated static Python bindings for the GObject library
  85. pvoigt ...but the issue is still unchanged.
  86. lovetox is the version showing in the gajim about window?
  87. lovetox cause that looks like python2 package
  88. pvoigt Looks like the GObjects-Version used by Gajim is wrong:
  89. pvoigt https://upload.jabber.drpetervoigt.de:5281/upload/LKv8Lv2g8Q4r_Bj7/Screenshot%20from%202019-09-22%2016-29-17.png
  90. pvoigt I am going to try to deinstall python-gobject-2, I have no idea, if it is needed...
  91. lovetox no gajim is python3 application
  92. lovetox ok then this was the wrong package, i think you can uninstall it and install the one from stable again
  93. lovetox try this package here python3-gi from testing
  94. pvoigt Does not look good: https://conference.gajim.org:5281/pastebin/da96cfa4-29b9-485d-ae22-95c3785a3e36
  95. lovetox yeah then dont, gajim has nothing to do with this package
  96. lovetox try to update python3-gi and python3-gi-cairo
  97. pvoigt # dpkg -l |grep -E "python3-gi|python3-gi-cairo|python-gobject" https://conference.gajim.org:5281/pastebin/ef85c9b3-5341-4a01-8910-52534b5c33dc
  98. pvoigt That looks better...
  99. pvoigt https://upload.jabber.drpetervoigt.de:5281/upload/2kkVzG_KMZrMSM6J/Screenshot%20from%202019-09-22%2016-40-27.png
  100. lovetox ok good, then everything is fine, gajim nightly is targeted at debian testing
  101. lovetox so it still works with the testing dependencys
  102. lovetox :)
  103. lovetox thanks for figuring that out
  104. pvoigt But now I am in the situation where apt offers suddenly a lot of packages to upgrade and I am not sure, if they come from testing. I do NOT want any more packages from testing.
  105. pvoigt expect the two python3-gi and python3-gi-cairo. It's exactly the situation why I hate installing from testing.
  106. lovetox pvoigt, you have to figure that out yourself. as always with stable distros, you cant have everything, stable system and newest software
  107. pvoigt I do not want to have newest software but Gajim wants ;-)
  108. pvoigt I can live with stable.
  109. zinid stable means extremely outdated software in some cases
  110. zinid 3+ years
  111. pvoigt Now I will have to investigate some time to downgrade again to stable without getting lost in a dependency hell.
  112. lovetox i understand the philosophy if i setup a server, i want packages that all play nice together and are tested
  113. lovetox but for users, i dont think there is much benefit in using stable
  114. pvoigt I need my Laptop and Workstation for daily work and not for playing around with latest software. That's why I have chosen Debian.
  115. lovetox yeah ok understandable, but still you did install gajim-nightly
  116. lovetox ..
  117. lovetox so you wanted to play at least a bit :)
  118. pvoigt lovetox, you're right, that worked for quite some time. Maybe it's time to downgrade to Gajim stable now for me.
  119. pvoigt lovetox, and yes, sometimes I want to play a little bit;-)
  120. lovetox pvoigt, do you use omemo?
  121. pvoigt lovetox, yes.
  122. lovetox ok .. hope that works out fine, tell me if you have problems after downgrading
  123. pvoigt lovetox, yes, thank you.
  124. lovetox or maybe thing about it and stay where you are
  125. lovetox just remove the testing sources now
  126. lovetox i dont think you will need anymore packages from testing
  127. lovetox :)

  129. Link Mauve lovetox, changing directory case on Windows will not change anything fyi.
  130. Link Mauve It will only for new directories.
  131. Link Mauve But if you e.g. have a Directory file and opendir("directory") it’ll work.
  132. Link Mauve Re miro’s issue.
  133. aversapars@xmpp.jp [9:59:02 AM] lovetox: thats a standard 16x16 icon thank you. Thas a pity a bit.

  138. raver Hey, I have a very huge muc room (ubuntu irc) with about 1100 people. The loading of that room blocks other rooms/message archive loading and message sending) is there any possibly to specify the loading order?
  139. raver Gajim is not the only client with that problem by the way
