Gajim - 2019-08-19

  1. Eduard Well, Im running it in a i7 - 7th to 3.5 GHz, 32 GB of RAM
  2. lovetox_ its not the encryption that is slow
  3. lovetox_ there is a session state, after sending a message this has to be updated, that means writing to the database
  4. lovetox_ before you write to the database you have to request all sessions, then request some other data
  5. lovetox_ so to encrypt to 7 keys, are probably 30-40 database operations
  6. lovetox_ so you invested in a expensive cpu, much RAM, but the most important factor of speeding up a computer the HDD you left out?

  9. tom hello
  10. wurstsalat hi
  11. tom I wanted to ask about how some older versions have gajim implemented certain features compared to the newest version
  12. tom specificly jingle
  13. wurstsalat hm, which versions are you comparing?
  14. wurstsalat and which feature?
  15. tom well gajim 0.16.9 relies on a deprecated version of libfarstream and gstreamer-0.1
  16. tom to implement the audio/video feature
  17. wurstsalat there are fixes in more recent versions and there are efforts to make audio calls work again in current master
  18. wurstsalat Link Mauve is working on this, maybe he can answer that better :)
  19. tom really?
  20. tom what is the new version based on?
  21. tom ffmpeg?
  22. asterix Same libs, more recent versions
  23. bot Daniel Brötzmann proposed a new merge request for _gajim-plugins/master_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/merge_requests/145 >: Whiteboard fixes and code cleanup
  24. Ge0rG Good morning. Is there an issue or a commit for the <show>error</show> presence that Gajim up to 1.1.3 are sending out sometimes?
  25. lovetox Ge0rG, are you sure Gajim 1.1.3 does that?
  26. lovetox it was fixed in that version
  27. lovetox https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/cb4e60c4813d2f91be8ad2f98e6e3fe488a0d518
  28. lovetox if you can verify that you receive these values from Gajim 1.1.3 i would have go and look again if somewhere we use code that does not use this method
  29. lovetox but i highly doubt it
  30. lovetox and i dont think you openend an issue for that
  31. sm0rux Hi, I'm using Gajim 1.1.3. When using Dark Theme the outgoing text is very close to the background colour. Where can I change this?
  32. andy sm0rux: look inside settings and styles. You can add value for almost every thing in Gajim.
  33. sm0rux andy: I've created a theme and added Outgoing Message Text Color as White, but still very dark gray...
  34. andy They is an list with themes. Change it to this newly created.
  35. andy sm0rux: They is an list with themes. Change it to this newly created.
  36. andy Now I'm on mobile so can't make a screenshot.
  37. andy If you can't find it, I'll check it in my computer in 20 minutes.
  38. sm0rux andy: Higly appreciated if you can send me a screen shot!
  39. sm0rux andy: Ahh... found a solution - I had to restart gajim. Then it works :)
  40. andy sm0rux: great.
  41. andy sm0rux, in git version changes are applied in real time. There is no need to restart Gajim. Maybe in stable they arent.
  42. andy btw, dark them is much better than light ;)
  43. sm0rux I installed the nightly accoding https://gajim.org/downloads.php?lang=en#ubuntu
  44. andy remember that nightly can by buggy
  45. sm0rux :)
  46. andy and You cant go back to stable ;)
  47. sm0rux I think think this is the nightly https://allg.one/gdAp
  48. sm0rux I'll report bugs if/when found :)
  49. andy sm0rux, nightly for stable
  50. andy I use version from git. Its something like Debian sid for Debian ;)
  51. andy or openSUSE Tumbleweed for openSUSE ;)
  52. sm0rux :)
  53. andy lovetox, when I open subwindow of Gajim (settings, contact info) they are opened in center to contact list. Can you change this behavior to open in center of the screen?
  54. lovetox you mean preferences?
  55. lovetox no they are centered on the screen
  56. andy not only preferences
  57. andy I have separate contaci list and chat window, and every subwindows of gajim is opened center to contact list.
  58. lovetox you have to be more specific
  59. andy ok.
  60. lovetox "every" is definitly false
  61. lovetox as i said preferences is opened centered on the screen
  62. lovetox for me
  63. lovetox there is no "settings"
  64. andy lovetox, I mean preferences ;)
  65. andy lovetox, are you using one window for everything?
  66. lovetox no right now not
  67. andy maybe this is something in kde
  68. lovetox preferences definitly uses Gtk.WindowPosition.CENTER
  69. lovetox it does not know anything about the roster
  70. lovetox but maybe KDE does not support that
  71. lovetox maybe wurstsalat could also check as i think he uses KDE
  72. andy okay my mistake.
  73. andy But windows souch as about gajim, shortcut are open with center of contact list
  74. andy and plugins
  75. lovetox yes there are some windows who still use the roster as center, we are in the progress to eliminate these
  76. andy :)
