  4. lovetox hm i want to split up groupchats from contacts in the new chat dialog
  5. lovetox as in 2 notebook tabs, one for contacts one for groupchats
  6. lovetox where the one in groupchats would be all your bookmarks
  7. lovetox any thoghts?
  8. lovetox any thoughts?
  9. mrdoctorwho I'm not sure how it would look

  13. lovetox like two chat tabs
  14. lovetox on tab says Contacts, the second says Group Chats
  15. lovetox a third one for Global group chat search
  16. mrdoctorwho Is that for the roster window?
  17. lovetox start chat dialog
  18. lovetox https://share.hoerist.com/philipp/mtzjI2syqKYF6ddl/0.png
  19. zuglufttier lovetox, that's a good idea, I think!
  20. zuglufttier How will I add a new contact/group chat there?
  21. lovetox the same way you do it now
  22. lovetox just type the jid into the field
  23. lovetox try it :)
  24. zuglufttier OK 😀
  25. zuglufttier That's not obvious if you look at the screenshot 😉
  26. marmistrz lovetox, what do you think about the way of adding cache proposed by me?
  27. marmistrz > Probably the best place would be liteaxolotlstore.py (add a function getTrust and update the cache on setTrust)
  28. marmistrz and use a top-level object in liteaxototlstore.py to serve as the cache
  29. marmistrz I don't think we can do it more cleanly in Python
  30. lovetox why you can just have the cache in an instance variable of the Database object
  31. lovetox let me have a look
  32. lovetox yeah in LiteAxolotlStore just add self._cache
  33. marmistrz lovetox: I missed that, thanks!
  34. rom1dep lovetox: re: new chat, what's the intent of the splitting? I think it'll make the whole thing less usable (I use that as a keyboard-only feature, I don't know how I would switch from one tab to the other, neither why that would be better that way)
  35. rom1dep For me, as long as its easy to identify what is a contact from what is a room, it's preferable to have them all in a single list
  36. lovetox the intention is that it serves as bookmark list
  37. lovetox so you could remove a bookmark out of that list
  38. lovetox this is of course still possible if its all in one, but you can have hundreds of contacts
  39. lovetox making it not possible for you to get a list of the groupchats
  40. lovetox this makes the bookmark manager window necessary again, which i would want to be a advanced feature
  41. lovetox and not something every user potentially needs everyday
  42. lovetox rom1dep, so what if you can switch via shortcut?
  43. andy lovetox, In one muc room i have enabled notify about all messages, and in Menu -- Gajim -- Settings -- Notifications "When new event is recieved" i checked "Show notifications". Now Gajim should open a muc room window when new message are coming?
  44. lovetox i could add a option to fuse these 2 boxes, i think thats trivial, but it would not be the default
  45. lovetox no andy, you have to set it to "open message" or "pop it up" , dont know what its called in english
  46. lovetox but this has a nasty sideeffect
  47. lovetox as the window is focused then, and if you are not on your computer, you will not see anymore a indicator that there is something new in that window
  48. lovetox but try it
  49. andy hm
  50. andy but you can check if someone is not in computer when a message is recieved?
  51. andy if so then you can add a unreaded count in tab, where muc room address is
  52. andy or make a placeholder in message window. Something similar is in PIS+

  54. lovetox andy there are bigger things planned where this becomes obsolete
  55. lovetox why dont you just open all group chats ?

  61. andy lovetox: > why dont you just open all group chats ? I use single window for all chats, and opening all would be a bad idea 😉
  62. lovetox yeah why would you use single window?
  63. lovetox you could use 2 windows one with all groupchats, other one with all contacts
  64. andy For a long time I use one window for all chats but single window better fit for me.
  65. andy lovetox: > you could use 2 windows one with all groupchats, other one with all contacts Maybe I'll try this for a week and see 🙃
  66. andy lovetox: why guys you are pickup gtk and not qt? There are official api for Python.
  67. andy Some time ago I made simple apps in qt and c++ and qt framework is great.
  68. lovetox you have to ask the guys that 15 years ago started making Gajim
  69. lovetox probably QT was not a thing back then
