  9. andy Gajim should remove saved bookmarks if they are removed by another device (for example another Gajim instance)?
  10. andy New bookmarks are added, but deleted one are still visible under (Gajim --> Bookmarks). Gajim 1.1.92.
  11. EmleyMoor I have an installation of biboumi running, and have configured to try to connect to an IRC server (more than one actually but only one is giving me problems), and it failed. i cannot reconfigure because the "Execute command" option on gajim's menu is greyed out for this JID. I have tried to remove it from my roster but it persists. How do I instruct gajim to "forget all about this JID"? (or is this more likely an ejabberd thing?)
  12. andy EmleyMoor: you can remove it using a XML console.
  13. EmleyMoor OK - what do I send?
  14. andy https://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc3921.html#roster
  15. andy But of You mas change a from and to parameters.
  16. andy But of course You must change a from and to parameters.
  17. andy After that try to restart Gajim.
  18. Holger As I said in the ejabberd room, I would probably just start with tracing the traffic during the failed attempt.
  19. Holger I doubt messing with the roster will help with the actual issue.
  20. andy Or try to restart Gajim first.
  21. EmleyMoor andy: Restarting gajim was the first thing I did. That xml snippet (suitably amended) does not work. Invalid Node, not wel-formed (invalid token), line 1, column 9
  22. EmleyMoor Holger, How do I make an "attempt"? What am I attempting?
  23. Holger EmleyMoor: You will know better than me, but I assume you're opening some window which then doesn't offer you a knob you'd like to press. Show the traffic that's sent/received while opening the window.
  24. Holger EmleyMoor: I'm mainly trying to spare you the time of running into some XY problem :-) (<http://xyproblem.info/>)
  25. EmleyMoor I can't issue the instruction to Gajim to initiate the traffic to bring the window up because it's greyed out. It's client side, not server-side
  26. Holger EmleyMoor: What, exactly, is grayed out?
  27. Holger EmleyMoor: You start Gajim and immediately see something that's grayed out? Without performing *any* UI interaction?
  28. EmleyMoor "Execute Command..." on the menu that Gajim brings up when right-clicking the relevant JID
  29. Holger EmleyMoor: Show the traffic that's sent/received while right-clicking the relevant JID.
  30. EmleyMoor None at all
  31. Holger EmleyMoor: Ah, ok :-) Well I usually interact with biboumi only "manually" via the service discovery UI. Did you try that?
  32. Holger EmleyMoor: Just to track down whether it's really just an issue with the roster entry as you're assuming.
  33. EmleyMoor Holger, I can interact with it for its core settings (which are not relevant), or for the settings for any other IRC server JID (just not the relevant one) or the settings for any of the channels I have joined.
  34. Holger EmleyMoor: You mean using the service discovery UI (unrelated to your roster)?
  35. EmleyMoor Holger, For its core settings, yes. For individual server settings, via a right click in the roster.
  36. Holger EmleyMoor: Just to double check, we're talking about right-clicking the top entry of your roster (the account/server name) and then "Disvocer Services", right?
  37. Holger EmleyMoor: That opens a generic service discovery window where you can interact with arbitraty JIDs. E.g. you can enter `irc.example.com@biboumi.yourserver.net` and then `Go`.
  38. EmleyMoor Yes-and-no. I can go that way if I want to interact with biboumi's main settings. However, for the settings for individual IRC servers, it's a right-click on the server JID and "Execute Command..."
  39. EmleyMoor Let me try your method... hold on
  40. Holger I understand you *usually* do a right-click on the server JID, and I understand that's convenient. I'm just suggesting this way to track down the issue.
  41. EmleyMoor Ah, now we're getting somewhere... I haw
  42. EmleyMoor have reached the relevant command
  43. Holger So it works that way?
  44. EmleyMoor Yes
  45. Holger Okay, so you were right it's only related to the roster entry indeed. My initial comments were somewhat misleading then, the roster entry may or may not be stored in ejabberd's database indeed.
  46. Holger (Usually they would, but I dunno whether Gajim adds local entries under certain circumstances.)
  47. Holger I could walk you through checking server-side.
  48. Holger If we see the entry there, we could ditch it. If we don't, I'll shut up and leave it to this room. k?
  49. EmleyMoor Holger, As I have now been able to reach it, fix the problem and "Execute Command..." is no longer greyed out, I thank you for your guidance, which steered me around the problem.
  50. Holger Hah, even better.

  56. lovetox hm i have to look under which circumstances we add the transport as contact
  57. lovetox andy they are removed, but it depends on your server if instantly
  58. lovetox or only on next restart of gajim
  59. lovetox EmleyMoor, right click on the transport contact and you can click remove
  60. lovetox and yes seems to be stored in the roister
  61. EmleyMoor lovetox, No relevance now, and I had tried that, only to the avail that it kept on getting in my way. Besides, it's not a transport proper
  62. lovetox but its weird that you have to configure anything at all, if i use biboumi on jabber.fr i just type the channel and server an connect
  63. lovetox maybe you can configure settings for servers directly in the biboumi config
  64. lovetox without adhoc commands?
  65. lovetox because an adhoc command would change that only for your user on that server
  66. lovetox connection settings for specific irc servers should probably set on biboumi itself and not by each user
  67. louiz’ what kind of connection settings?
  68. lovetox port on a irc server
  69. lovetox maybe tls or plain, or this kind of stuff
  70. louiz’ then no, you can’t do that globally for all users
  71. lovetox so what does biboumi try? the usual default ports?
  72. lovetox does it default to tls or plain?
  73. louiz’ tls or plain is chosen by the type of port. There’s a “ports” list and a “TLS ports” list
  74. louiz’ by default it’s 6697 and 6677 in TLS, and then 6667 in plain
  75. louiz’ (or something like that)
  76. Link Mauve There is an issue open to do that better: https://lab.louiz.org/louiz/biboumi/issues/3300
  77. lovetox yeah i often think about how we can make the irc transport more userfriendly
  78. lovetox and the first thing i would like to abolish is, having adhoc commands on 3 different jids
  79. andy lovetox: > andy they are removed, but it depends on your server if instantly > or only on next restart of gajim Hmm so it something not right, because yesterday I have delete some bookmarks at home, and today after connecting from work they are still visible under bookmark menu.
  80. andy Ofc different instance of Gajim.
  81. lovetox andy look under accounts -> advanced -> server info
  82. lovetox if you have a checkmark with xep 0163
  83. lovetox 0163 #publish -options
  84. lovetox to be exact
  85. andy ok, I will do it when I will be at home. Thx.
  86. andy lovetox: but i added new some to and they are visible.
  87. andy lovetox: but i added some new to, and they are visible.
  88. lovetox hm yeah weird can reproduce
  89. lovetox not sure if gajim is the problem as i dont receive a bookmark change notification but im looking into it

  93. lovetox andy, your server needs to support bookmark conversion module
  94. lovetox you can check it at the bottom of server info window
  95. lovetox if you want instant updates of bookmark changes
  96. andy lovetox, I use c.im with own domain and this XEP are marked unde server info: https://conference.gajim.org:5281/pastebin/7ac0a942-1436-46e1-aa29-5bb63990f474
  97. andy Server Software: ejabberd 19.05.13-conversations.im [...] XEP-0411: Bookmarks Conversion: Yes
  98. lovetox yeah
  99. lovetox hm then it should work, i will test later
  100. andy I will test it too once again ;)
