  7. Marzanna Is it possible to ignore notifications from a transport? But I don't want to ignore it completely.
  8. wurstsalat Marzanna: you can try the triggers plugin

  12. Marzanna wurstsalat, thank you. trying it
  13. Marzanna nah, it doesn't work :(
  14. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim >: *3f0ebda2* < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/3f0ebda2237e59e8bf32713e739105a641f42924 > HTTPUpload: Use units depending on size and speed

  16. wurstsalat andrey.g, rom1dep ^
  17. andrey.g sounds good, thanks, will check
  18. rom1dep wurstsalat, just checked out. I'll see sooner or later how it looks 🙂
  19. rom1dep about looking in general, I found new users coming from windows to be more and more puzzled by the gnomification of gajim
  20. lovetox so we should make it look like windows 10?
  21. lovetox and then linux users are puzzled
  22. bot Daniel Brötzmann proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/merge_requests/485 >: Remove custom convert bytes method and make use of GLib.format_size_full()
  23. beelze test
  24. rom1dep lovetox: no, but made me realise/remember how alien gnome and its paradigm are compared to… well, everything.
  25. lovetox but what exactly do you mean?
  26. pep. I guess he'd want you to have two different UIs :P
  27. pep. Come on, why don't you use win32 API already!
  28. rom1dep I mean that these settings forms where you just edit stuff without confirming them/applying them ended-up in my guinea pig friend desperately looking for controls which do not exist, be frustrated, and click on stuff without any certainty
  29. rom1dep I'm not being judgemental here
  30. pep. rom1dep, it's a thing, different DEs, different assumptions..
  31. pep. And yeah it's weird having to use an app for a DE on another one
  32. pep. But there's not much you can do about this apart from putting time in it yourself to support that other DE :/
  33. rom1dep for me, that was interesting to see (I'm not generally seeing through the user's eyes like it was the case then, with him sharing its desktop with me), this user is absolutely computer litterate (works in high level data science, writes SQL, maintains data transormation pipelines, etc), but couldn't know if he was doing the right thing (the scope was to edit a misentererd password after the initial account setup wizard)
  34. lovetox yeah but that password dialog is really bad :D
  35. lovetox it doesnt have a OK or apply button
  36. lovetox and im not a fan of these in general
  37. pep. well these are GNOME guidelines right? (not that I especially agree with them)
  38. lovetox but to type in a password, then not hitting OK or something
  39. lovetox is weird also to me
  40. pep. But that's what they're trying to get to, no?
  41. lovetox i definitly would think about how one can do this dialog better
  42. lovetox and just for the record i dont design after gnome guidelines
  43. lovetox i certainly looked at it
  44. lovetox and if i like something i take it
  45. lovetox but if something is not good we are certainly open to change it to something better
  46. lovetox even if its not gnomy
  47. rom1dep yeah, that's a very difficult field to navigate, I assume
  48. rom1dep I'm quite okay with how things are currently. But OTOH I encounter Gtk apps often by having a linux desktop as my daily driver
  49. rom1dep are there many gajim-on-windows users over here?
  50. lovetox yes
  51. lovetox there is no windows client that comes close to Gajim features
  52. lovetox some younger ones but not yet there
  53. rom1dep any news about the messagewindow revamp?
  54. lovetox no stuck with other things, but we have default avatars :D
  55. rom1dep yeah, that's what I was about to write next, it's quite neat :)
  56. pep. What's that
  57. lovetox generating a avatar for people that dont have one
  58. rom1dep pep.: that consistent colors xep something something
  59. lovetox nothing special just Gajim didnt have it
  60. pep. Ah ok I thought you were talking about uploading it
  61. Mikaela Hi, is there a flag to start Gajim minimized to tray? I am using single window for everything and have chosen to hide roster on startup, but when I login and Gajim starts, it opens a window and I have to click th etray icon for it to go there.
  62. lovetox no
  63. Mikaela Is there another way to archieve that or should I open an issue?
  64. lovetox nope you can open an issue if you want
  65. lovetox but maybe look if there is already one
  66. Daniel Hi
  67. lovetox hi there
  68. bot Mikaela Suomalainen created an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9750 >: #9750: < Command line flag to start in tray icon? >
  69. Mikaela I guess there would be no point in saying that at least Signal, Wire and Keybase that I also have launching in startup support this
