Gajim - 2019-05-21

  1. Eduard Nice release.
  2. laxifeiji I used windows snap build "Master-64bit-2019-05-21".Its image paste works well, but plugin omemo_2.6.59 has bug.when send secure message to conversations app,it shows "This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted."
  3. laxifeiji so ,is there a way to make master snap build work with omemo?
  4. spicewiesel wurstsalat: the dns config UI was the problem, it was not able to autoresolve subdomains in SRV records as my former provider did :)
  5. spicewiesel wurstsalat: the dns config UI was the problem, it puts . behind every entry and thus was not able to autoresolve subdomains in SRV records as my former provider did :)
  6. spicewiesel wurstsalat: the dns config UI was the problem, it puts automatically . behind every entry and thus breaks entries which point to an a-record, not a fqdn :)
  7. wurstsalat spicewiesel, good thing you discovered that! these problems are time-intensive
  8. spicewiesel oh yes, they are
  9. spicewiesel especially if it comes down to dns where you always have to wait after you changed anything
  10. spicewiesel at hetzner you could just edit the dns file by yourself, that was fine
  11. spicewiesel I don't like those input field solutions, where the whole line is separated into fields for every value
  12. spicewiesel plus: it sucks if the UI adds stuff it does not show to the user...
  13. balbok Hello, I want to use a muc with omemo. When I try to activate omemo for this muc there's a message, omemo encryption is only possible when configured "only members" and "not anonymous". Which configuration settings are necessary for "not anonymous"?

  15. spicewiesel what's the minimal set of dns entries you guys set up if the xmpp server is on the same host as you tld
  16. Zash The bare domain already points to it? Then nothing.
  17. spicewiesel yes, the tld's a/aaaa record points to the same IP as the xmpp server is listening on
  18. Zash I don't think tld means what you think it means
  19. wurstsalat balbok, e.g. 'Addresses (JIDs) of room occupants may be viewed by: Anyone'
  20. spicewiesel maybe, I mean example.com -> server
  21. Zash .com is the TLD there
  22. spicewiesel yes, dunno why I was stuck to tld, not enough sleep maybe :D
  23. Zash I usually set up machine-name.mydomain.tld and then SRV records, but I'm a DNS perfectionist.
  24. Zash example.com. IN A/AAAA works if you use the default ports
  25. spicewiesel that's what I do, too. But I got some weird hickups after the domain migration
  26. Zash Components/services and such may need additional records
  27. Zash Waited for all the name servers to be in sync plus the maximum cache time?
  28. spicewiesel so, now I would like to clean up to the simplest working setup
  29. spicewiesel yes, I set a shorter ttl beforehand
  30. balbok wurstsalat: ok. That solves my problem. Thanks.

  32. laxifeiji could I ask what time is next stable release come?

  34. CryptOwl Is it possible to force a consistent font size in gajim so old messages from the history don't turn smaller than the rest?
  35. CryptOwl using versions 0.16.6 (debian 9) and 1.0.1 (Ubuntu)
  36. wurstsalat CryptOwl, look for restored_messages_small in Advanced Configuration Editor
  37. CryptOwl found it myself, but thank you very much :)
  38. CryptOwl another weird thing we have noticed: Some users have installed Gajim 1.1.2 from backports. Those two users found an additional contact group in their contatc list named "Local" showing the other contact using the backport version. The Jaber-ID of those users showed up as "username"@"computername"
  39. CryptOwl Of course one of them tried to send a message using that contact and it crashed Gajim for that contact.
  40. CryptOwl is there a way to deactivate this local contact feature? And why is it only showsing up for those two debian users?
  41. wurstsalat you can deactivate the 'Local' account in Gajim > Accounts
  42. CryptOwl ya, just noticed. any idea why it is actiavted for those users by default? it isn't for anyone else.
  43. wurstsalat I don't know
  44. CryptOwl I think it's happening because Local is activated by default in Gajim 0.16.6 since they upgraded from that.
  45. wurstsalat settings will be migrated, that's correct
  46. wurstsalat any chance you still have those tracebacks ? ;)
  47. laxifeiji that master branch snap build, with OMEMO plugin will cause other app fail to decrypt. How?
  48. CryptOwl wurstsalat: what do you mean by tracebacks?
  49. wurstsalat error reports from these users where it crashed
  50. CryptOwl I hope so. Does Gajim store thos eby default?
  51. wurstsalat no, you have to report them directly (or log everything from the start)
  52. CryptOwl Okay. it wasnt my computer and I wasnt around when it was happening, so it's most likely gone then. We haven't been able to reproduce it after a restart.
  53. wurstsalat If it does, feel free to open an issue!
  54. CryptOwl Okay another problem: I set "print_status_in_muc" to none. For one account that is working but for my other one i still get tons of status changes.
  55. CryptOwl in this for example i still see all the status changes.
  56. CryptOwl using Gajim 1.1.2 in this case
  57. CryptOwl never mind... forund the setting in the bookmarks
  58. lovetox laxifeiji, the encryption lib we use is broken upstream
  59. lovetox laxifeiji but we have a fix soon
