Gajim - 2019-04-15

  1. anontestspsi i also did'nt know how what to upload a video to. google won't let me sign-up. so i decided to experiment and test doing this on twitch.tv right now. if you want to see what i'm working on right now. ... not sure what else to do. ... -- https://www.twitch.tv/anontests anontests - Twitch -- i apologize in advance.
  2. Eduard If there are any user interested in a tool to discover subdomains, I released one today. It doesn't use common methods like bruteforce for get subdomains, it uses certificate transparency logs to get them. It support IP discover, parse domain list from file and other things. It's available in github https://github.com/Edu4rdSHL/findomain
  3. anontestspsi question. when i move my gajim-portable "UserData" folder to the new folder; does "UserData" include any and all logs i've had and kept; if enabled?
  4. anontestspsi i mainly want to just upgrade my old ancient veresion of gajim to the newest version of gajim. but keep all of my data. ... getting "conference.gajim.org" to work on my machines isn't that important and can be taken care of later indefinitely, i guess...
  5. anontestspsi i think i'm close. but. i don'tk now if "UserData" includes my logs and everything, and stuff...
  6. Eduard > question. when i move my gajim-portable "UserData" folder to the new folder; does "UserData" include any and all logs i've had and kept; if enabled? Yes
  7. anontestspsi > Yes thank you. ... oh. i see. thank you. eduard. ...
  8. anontestspsi thank you!!

  11. anontestspsi so.
  12. anontestspsi i'm gonna recap what i posted here.
  13. anontestspsi https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9673 gajim group-chat room channel and instant-messages not working on windows 7; apparently.
  14. anontestspsi too long; didn't read: i can't get conference.gajim.org to work properly in gajim on any of my windows 7 machines but it works in psi-im and psi-plus and works on lovetox windows 7 machine and nobody knows why. but i'm gonna use gajim still anyway. hope it gets fixed. whatever it is.
  15. anontestspsi i'll probably use gajim despite its issues anyway; instead of psi-im or psi-plus. i like how gajim is avatar-oriented, how you can search group-chat networks for all the channels that are on it, and stuff.
  16. anontestspsi and i'm probably gonna leave soon after this since we've apparently sort of reached a consensus that we don't know what's wrong and there's nothing i can do about it. ... and everything besides conference.gajim.org in gajim on my windows 7 machines works.
  17. anontestspsi probably gonna just use gajim or something to talk to someone; alike i did with someone a long time ago; alike i intended to do originally, i guess...
  18. anontestspsi again thanks for your patience with me and tolerance of me.
  19. anontestspsi i'm probably just posting about this 1 more time to see if anyone has anything to say before i have to go.
  20. anontestspsi thanks.
  21. fuesschen ‎anontestspsi‎:little hint: time to switch to windows 10 or some other operating system. the lifetime of windows 7 ends at 14. january next year!

  29. wurstsalat syn you can fork. if it is disabled it's probably because you logged in via another account? then you need to be enabled by someone

  40. marmistrz Btw. lovetox, does 1.1.2 already contain the change for marking encrypted untrusted message?

  54. marmistrz lovetox, something's broken with the new OMEMO trust.
  55. marmistrz I launched gajim using ./launch.py -p dev -s
  56. marmistrz distrusted an fpr of one contact
  57. marmistrz The enc/trust indicator stayed green.
  58. marmistrz Then I quit gajim, launched my system-wide version
  59. marmistrz Now the messages are:
  60. marmistrz > This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted.
  61. marmistrz -p dev -s was supposed to isolate those two profiles
  62. lovetox its the trust at the point of receiving the message
  63. lovetox so it will never change
  64. marmistrz lovetox, we've already discussed that we definitely want to show the current trust, when I implemented the encryption state
  65. lovetox but thats not easy doable, while the other is
  66. marmistrz what's difficult with showing the current trust? Just remember the fpr for the message, look up the current trust
  67. marmistrz Probably the plugin needs to provide some API to inform the caller about the trust state of the fpr
  68. marmistrz lovetox, ^
  69. marmistrz (we may not update the trust icon until the chat window gets reopened, as this would be difficult with the current design of chatcontrol)
  70. lovetox and then you need to update all icons in the chatview, and you need the plugin to not make a database query per message, in fact now the plugin does 2 database query to get the trust of one fingerprint, if you load 50 messages this is a lot and slow
  71. lovetox and all this for the case where you distrust a fingerprint
  72. marmistrz lovetox: only update the icons when creating the chatview.
  73. lovetox like this is almost never done
  74. marmistrz so you need to close and open the window to see the changws
  75. lovetox the more frequent case is that a not known fingerprint writes you
  76. lovetox marmistrz, i didnt say its impossible, its just a lot more work to do it right
  77. lovetox and this is basically only for you
  78. marmistrz We'll query the fprs in __init__, and store them in ChatControl. I can give it a try when I have a while.
  79. lovetox its useful to see the trust of a fingerprint when a message arrives and from what fingerprint it comes, we have that now
  80. lovetox the rest is really only for crypto geeks
  81. lovetox and also its just preference, i dont see how it gains you anything in particular
  82. marmistrz Heh, most users will just blindly trust :P
  83. marmistrz It allows you to temporarily distrust a fingerprint, until you meet in person to verify
  84. lovetox you can do this also now
  85. lovetox ..
  86. marmistrz But then the messages will remain red even after you verify
  87. marmistrz Anyway, I'll give it a try when I have a whime
  88. marmistrz *while
  89. lovetox true
  90. marmistrz The way it currently is definitely better than dropping messages, after all
  91. lovetox but the other way is not really nice
  92. lovetox you distrust, aterwards everything you wrote for a year turns red
  93. lovetox later you can not differentiate between a message from a never trusted fingerprint
  94. lovetox and messages trusted for a year, but then the key was not used anymore
  95. marmistrz Yes, because all the messages may have been compromised
  96. lovetox that *can* be one reason
  97. lovetox but it is not the only reason
  98. lovetox and you can not differentiate between them
  99. marmistrz true.
  100. marmistrz Btw. the way it currently is, are unencrypted messages displayed differently than encrypted yet untrusted?
  101. lovetox i think so
  102. lovetox just distrust a fingerprint, and let you send a message
  103. lovetox yeah looked it up we dont drop messages anymore
  104. lovetox so yes its a red shield icon

  110. anontestspsi also i have little suggestions for gajim. before the instant message starts it can say like the 2 participants in the message. and maybe even their address and nickname. that way if they don't reply right away; or at all; you can know what the conversation is by the text alone. it's sort of weird and may not make sense. but that's what i want. ...
  111. anontestspsi also it'd be nice to have the full date as time-stamps ... maybe this is already possible. but again i'm having trouble testing any version of gajim with anything on conference.gajim.org . so i can't verify. so. maybe it's already implemented. but whatever. anyway. ...but whatever you wanna do is fine...
  112. anontestspsi fuesschen:oh:oh. yeah. i'd probably be fine with anti-virus. i'll probably switch anyway. for driver support; on whatever i'm using; mainly. thank you. fuesschen. thank you.
  113. anontestspsi marmistrz. see. windows xp and antivirus. i mean it's even possible to run windows 1 today. just. they choose not to. hah. i'm also not sure what a pension's guests is but all right. hah.
  114. anontestspsi if anyone wnats to contact me. you can contact me on anontestsgajim@jabber.com . i don't mind receiving messages and stuff.
  115. anontestspsi you can also visit and bookmark my experimental website network thing. tho i don't know what's going on with it. i cant' find a decent free web host. i'd like it so i dont have to login alike with neocities, but has ftp like other things, and does'nt ban me for stupid reasons like mentioning a website or something; anyway.
  116. anontestspsi anyway. here's the site. if anyone's interested. http://alptest.altervista.org/ this site
